A lesson on eating people alive
Zombies.
We all watch them in movies as they pillage and eat our heroes and heroines, or the two stupid kids making out in the farm. We all cheer as the stupid get eaten, or squirm as the blood and guts spray.
I have a real fear of zombies. I can't think of a single person on this planet that I'm scared of, but I am scared of a group of fictional monsters. Realistic fear or not, they are the reason I own an assault shotgun and a 45. I guess it's because I see them as somewhat possible. I have these horrid dreams where I get a call from my friend James telling me he has fucked up in the lab and Zombies are on the loose.
Anyways, it may surprise you to find out that zombies are actually real. I thought I would take a minute to tell you about them this holiday season. They originated in Haiti. Zombies were people who had died and then been brought back to life only to be brain dead slow walking people with no real conscious. They could work and do field work with no real thought. Often they just stood in a stupor. People believed zombies actually died and came back to life soulless.
What actually happened was that people were given a chemical (toad skin and pufferfish) that would slow their temperature and blood pressure down to where they appeared dead. They were buried, and then later dug up (within 8 hours or asphyxiation). Once dug up they were given Datura, which breaks their links with reality, and then destroys all their recent memories. So they didn't know what day it was, where they were and, or even who they were. The zombies were in a state of semi-permanent induced psychotic delirium.
They were sold to sugar plantations as slave labor. They were given datura again if they seemed to be recovering their senses. Mindless zombies. History lesson by Patrick.
On a different subject I have been trying to meditate lately. I can make it about 20 minutes before I get restless. It does wonders for the mind though. I've been reading a book of Buddhist teachings. Fascinating stuff. I'm not about to change religions but I like the changes in perspective it has provided and continues to provide as I read further.
I've been thinking of building myself a suit of armor. I designed it on the sketch table. I can't tell you why I want a suit or armor, but I think it would be fun. Here is the problem. For it to be as protective (bullet proof) as I want it to be, it would weigh 400 pounds. I can't carry that much weight on me for very long. I thought I could install mini hydraulics to help with movement, but I soon realized that with even the slightest fallacy in my math, the hydraulics could rip my arms or legs off. I am gonna keep working on it though. Iron man here I come. You may be wondering how I would make armor by the way. I met a man a year or so ago named Wolf. It was honestly his name. He changed it. He taught me how to make a forge. If I can ever get a design that works you may see my armor. If not you may hear I have been crushed under a giant set of armor.
