Location, Landmarks, and Surrounding Places of Interest:
I do not know this area very well, but this is what I do know, so I hope it is useful. Located down by Jacksonville Beach, near the Joe's Crab Shack, and a TON of other bars. This bar is just 2 blocks down from the beach, and it is one of the oldest "open" gay bars in the Jacksonville Beach area (as far as I know). Assessment and Experiences:
I have been to this bar roughly 4 times now, and I could almost live there due to how wonderful everyone has been to me, and the strong positive vibe I get. I was originally asked out by a nurse from my doctor's office to meet her at this bar, but I never did until recently. From the research I had done, it was originally founded in 1964 as strictly a "closed" gay bar, but during the early 1990's, it changed to being an "open to everyone" gay bar. It typically has a small populace during the autumn/winter seasons due to the general shift in the populace of the Jacksonville Beach area, but it can get very crowded during the spring/summer seasons. It hosts a variety of special events once and awhile. Just this Sunday was a lovely all-lesbian night, which is awesome...at least it was for me. They have a regular Drag Show of roughly 2-4 different regular performers. They are not the best, but they make up for it in spirit and a lovely attitude. The bar has a couple of pool tables near the front entrance by the main bar, a secondary bar in the back, next to the indoor smoking lounge. There is a small performance stage where shows and karaoke are done, and other things. It also have a huge and wonderful wood deck at the rear if you want to sit outside, or just go where it is usually more quiet (and sometimes pretty private *wink wink*). I know the women's restroom is very clean compared to most bars I have been to, but I cannot say about the men's restroom...but I do not think most men really care about that...anyway! I love it there, everyone treats me uber awesome. They all seem to really like me there, as I am always greeted by MANY hugs from the staff and those that commonly frequent the bar. They even gave me free drinks for the entire night that my BF at the time had broken up with me...and he broke up with me mainly because of this particular bar...stupid reasons, too. But that is PERFECTLY OKAY with me! I have been meeting a ton of awesome men and women. I get hit on by both men in women there all the time. Almost went home with a guy there, but I didn't because he ended up having to go back home ALL the way up to Georgia...which he wanted me to go too. I am crazy, but I am not insane! A rather attractive woman wanted to take me hope, but we were both a bit drunk...and she passed out behind the wheel and slept at the beach (good thing she didn't drive, but such a bummer that we didn't get beyond her car...though the car was fun!). There are a lot of very hot and sexy men there...I just wish I was their type, but...DAMN IT!! It's not fair!! But I did make out with a few of them...lol. There were a lot of very beautiful women there, and a lot of them hit on me...wish they did more, but I am not complaining! A free drink is a free drink no matter who it comes from, or why they are giving it to you! Umm, unless they put something not very nice in it...Anyway, one day ONE DAY I will have better luck in some hot and sexy person taking me home with them (guy, girl, both...whatever! At this point, I am tired of so many failed relationships that I just do not care about that anymore, and ...wow, I really sound like a dirty little slut! *evil grin* YAY! I am free and I can have fun now! If that makes me a slut, SO BE IT!...but I still have some standards and self-respect....maybe more standards than self-respect, but...whatever! I am a hippie anyway...MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR!!....lots and lots and lots of love...especially if I have been drinking a lot!
