You should see Indochine. Its set in 1930s vietnam, and gives some perspective on why the vietnam war happened. It is also a visually beautiful movie.

My dad was a Marine truck driver in Vietnam. I am fascinated by Vietnam because it is the first conflict where the mass media played a large role in determining the outcome. It's also our greatest military failure.

I'll look for that movie and see if I can download it...
