It was hard for me to fall asleep last night because the inside of my apartment smelled like a campfire and I had a headache from it.

I did get to talk to MrDeity on the phone for more than three hours, which helped keep me from going stir crazy, packing up my cats, driving as far away as I could and renting a hotel room somewhere that doesn't smell like fire. And, of course, as always it is just a pleasure to get to talk to him and catch up on each other's lives. He is one of my favourite people, after all.

Even though I am broke I have been going out to eat because it is WAY too hot to cook in my own place, and going out somewhere means getting to go somewhere that potentially actually has effective AC.

I'm not used to this whole fire thing, being an east coast girl. All I know is that being able to see the hills burning from my front door feels a wee bit too close to comfort for me.
