It's so nice to be back in my apartment with my boy and my cat.
We got a package from Shawn's grandparents yesterday. Late Christmas presents. His was just an envelope, but mine was a wrapped box. In the box was an enamel, bejeweled, pineapple box. I opened the pineapple up and there was a piece of paper in it. I figured it was just a certificate stating the authenticity of the pineapple or something along those lines, but when I opened it up I discovered it was a check. For 100 bucks. Whoah.
Thanks G-Mom and G-Dad! I think I like having fake grandparents. They just saved my butt, because I am so so broke right now.
Shawn got 350, but he didn't get a Christmas Pineapple.
We are so thankful to them since we were prepared for this to be a very VERY rough money month. Rougher than even the months past where I've worried about money.
My parents just had to pay my brothers tuition, put another 1,200 in to my car to get it up and running, and in the next two weeks they are going to have to pay my tuition.
Apparently when I took my car in to get fixed, twice, in early/mid December and spent 600+ on those repairs neither of those shops actually addressed what was actually making the car stutter, stall, and die. I'm sure they did work that needed to be done, but they weren't doing work that made the car drivable again. So we took her to a repair shop in my parents area called Auto Skandia. They only work on Volvos and Saabs, Swedish cars. So they have a computer they plug in and it pops out everything that is wrong with the car. Every single little thing. So we got it all fixed.
And now my car works!
Thank god. Because we decided that if after all of that she still didn't work that we weren't going to put any more money in to the car. And any other car I get isn't going to be nearly as nice.
And they told me that I can put 89 or 91 in the car, it doesn't have to be 93 since I don't have the Turbo. Thank goodness.
And for some reason after the gas price hike, prices have fallen drastically in the last few days and mid-grade is at only (!) 3.09.
Last but not least:
Brooklyn is absolutely, completely, and utterly wonderful. Everyone should love her.
_Pie_ too.
