We had Thanksgiving at my apartment. My parents and little brother came up. They brought the Turkey, stuffing, and apple pie, and brussel sprouts. I made 2 pumpkin pies the night before and mashed potatoes and candied yams that day. I was really proud of my candied yams, they ended up being really good. My pies were really good too, but I've made pumpkin pie many a time before, that was my first time with candied yams.

It was actually really nice. We cleaned up the apartment thoroughly, and it looks really nice. It wasn't that messy before, just cluttered, which tends to happen with a huge apartment. At least with me and a huge apartment. My school work and crafts end up all over the place. And clothes end up all over the floor in the bedroom since we don't have a washer and dryer so we go quite some time between washing. Since we moved here Aug 1. we haven't gone to the laundromat once, we have just taken laundry back to my parents house.

Classes start back up on Monday. I have 4 essays due. 3 of them are for an American Anthropology exam worth 1/6th of my final class grade, and the 4th is a 3-4 page response essay on a book I have yet to read worth 20% of my creative writing grade. It isn't even something I can bullshit. I really do have to read the book. It is an "emotional response to the book and how I believe his philosophies on courage, creativity, craft, and writing will or will not affect my writing in the future. Use examples from the book." It's on the book Courage to Create by Rollo May, and although it is less than 200 pages long, it's written by a philosopher... so it's loaded. This should be interesting.

I have finished one of the essays, and I have more than half of the notes done for the second one. I am going to finish the second before going to bed tonight. Otherwise there is no chance in hell I will finish everything before monday.

I currently have a cumulative 97.8% in my Anthropology class, and I really really don't want that to go down any, so even though I have procrastinated on these essays I want them to be as good as possible.

Theoretically I should also have 3-4 powerpoints done for my group presentation on Nuer Journeys Nuer Lives, but I also haven't finished that book. It's under 150 pages, but there is no way that I am going to read a 150 page book and a 200 page book tomorrow. Especially since both are non fiction and not exactly easy reading. The power points I don't turn in to my teacher anyway, I just have to get them to the person who is putting the full slide show together, and we have one more group work day before presentations. I know other people have said they won't be able to get their slides done by then either.

I could have always just not procrastinated.. but I really really needed a break. Like a lot. After my health problems I just really needed some time where I wasn't doing any school. I know that I am going to have an entire two months off before I start school again, but since I am pretty much completely broke I am going to end up working full time through that entire break. So I put things off and started today.

But I am confident I will get things done, and I have even managed to avoid stressing out completely. Which is actually a fairly impressive feat since school has been stressing me out a lot. The fact that I haven't been in school full time since 2001, and have never really taken school seriously before means that I have been taking things overly seriously. I've been getting myself a little too stressed out and making things harder for myself than they really are. I am definitely getting better at it though, which is good. Hopefully next semester will be better.

I am officially a Marylander now. I think the Maryland drivers licenses look funny, but my new drivers license picture is leaps and bounds better than my old one. And even though I know have a Maryland drivers license, and was born in Maryland and lived here until I was 11, I think that when asked I will still claim Northern Virginia or the DC metro area as my home.

I got Maryland residency for two reasons. A. County tuition. B. To avoid the 1,000 dollar fine for driving more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit in Virginia. Which only applies to Virginia residents.

Shawn and I discovered Torchwood on BBC America on demand. It's a Dr. Who spin-off featuring Captain Jack (or The Face of Boe dun dun dun) as the main character. It's my new favourite show. After watching so many shows on DVD it's really frustrating watching shows in real time (or fake real time, since they are further ahead in Britain). I want the next episodes now!! Sigh.
infinity:
good luck with the schoolwork! you've already got a good part of it done, just need to finish it up now.
