i have a cousin serving in the peace corps in paraguay. he lives in a little house he built himself. there was a fire and his arms and chest are covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns... his shirt was melted to his skin. the closest village with a phone is a 2 hour walk (which he had no choice but to make) one of the villagers helped by smearing some sort of cow lard or something on him to help with the pain, but he didn't get to a medical facility for 17 hours. fuck. he'll be ok, but i'm really sad to think of the pain he must have gone through.
