Dear bar band,

Thanks so much for playing every weekend at that "after-work" place I walk by on my way home from work. It's because of you I'll be humming "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey until I fall asleep tonight.

Hugs and kisses,
Dogslife

PS. I'm just nipping out for a bit to take a giant dump on your van before I turn in for...

I fired someone today.

Alright, he was just a high school kid doing a co-op program (ie., volunteer labour), and I was kind of the good cop to another manager's bad cop, and he wasn't so much "fired" as "failed", and it really exhausted me to be that keyed up for as long as I was...

... but I'm still fucking hardcore.

I was going...

Big fat kiss. biggrin wink

Anytime anybody writes about money, they always seem to sway towards it's negative side. We should all just go back to trading sheep and goats.

Just thought about a vault full of sheep. Had to laugh.

Lollapafuckinlooza, here I come.

* * * * *

Sometimes I have wonderfully sublime moments in which I realize that even though I have no future in my job, and I'm too lazy about my real passions, and I probably don't have enough talent to make anything of them anyway, I'm still way cooler than my 12 year-old self ever thought I'd be.

Oh, or that.

I love Google. And you will love the comment-deletion function!!!

I was going to say some stuff about Toronto Prom, but I'm not coming up with a cohesive narrative. There's just a lot of Hedge and I mugging together and seperately. At some point mk enters, and then enters again several hours later with a tequila shot for me. And there's some stuff about a lady near and dear to my binkyboots getting her Siv...

So here's the skinny - apparantly we're going to start scheming for some kind of day-long Toronto field trip in which you, Ginny, Photogrrl, and myself are going to get together and paint Toronto an imperial violet. The tentative agenda that has been proposed involves lunch at Salad King (thai) and dinner at Seniors (swank steakhouse/best restaurant in the GTA), and shenaniganery in between. I've warned Photogrrl that we'd probably need to plan on at least on hour of you and I geeking out in guitar shops, and she said the girls could go off and do girly things. But apparantly we can watch and take pictures, so it's all good.

Phase One of this plan will come into effect after I survive my drive to TO this weekend, and the concept of "driving to/in Toronto" becomes less horrifying. (Maybe instead of "after", I should say "provided".) So we'll talk.

Re: Lollapalooza. Interested, but can't make a firm committment just yet. I have a major family surgery to get through between now and then, and I might not have any vacation days left over at the end of it. I'll get to the end of that rollercoaster and let you know where things sit. Is it in Molson Park ?

After some initial confusion and liberal sampling, I settled on the green one. So I guess that wasn't as bad as I thought it was.

Never mind I said anything, mmkay?

I may have some thoughts on the Toronto Prom after I get back from my dinnerdate with ginny and photogrrl.

With much fanfare and glorious hymnal singing, Siv presented me with this gift....

Gold medal indeed!

...and in a 70mile race, we have time to do a lot of things; perhaps someday I'll teach you how to relieve yourself at 27mph on a bike without getting any on you.

...someday after I figure that second part out. blush

My two favourite laydeez are on my ass about writing.

So here's what I'll do.

I'll write a letter to my friend Clare in Saskatoon, whose laugh I was reminded of by Siv's crystalline chuckle. (I keep befriending the same woman over and over, and she is always remarkable.)

Then I'll write a poem in the robot series.

And lastly, probably this evening, I'll whip...

i was usin the yellow one exclusively. apparently siv was kinda playing the field. this oddly sums up some sort of distinction between her and i probably. it didn't really matter who else used the yellow one of course, it was just important that i only use the yellow one. i've put my wallet in the same pocket since i was 12, heh.

i think we can probably all take ease in the fact that i nearly never, neverrr notice when someone else has drank too much. i'm always far too busy drinking too much m'self :]

yeh i agree, the corny "i met them on a website" thing tends to always be culturally downplayed so much that you're not supposed to have an investment, but that's just stupid. okay, so you don't have body language and stuff, but come on. hopefully the world at large gets over that taboo and we don't have to go around talking about meeting online in secret circle-jerking societies while drinking zima.

i didn't even notice the beer store indecision other than you and ginny talking about it. i think i was more focused on surviving tiny plane and getting a good post-tiny-plane buzz on after showing off the tiny tiny lubricant. that and was just staring at all the beer store beer going "mmm. beer." and thinking of that funny guy doing checkout in the store beforehand.

the food all around kicked ass. the bacon and eggs and chickent and salad and strawberry pierogies and STREET MEAT all gained me pounds i will probably have no hope of shedding until our next visit or your visit or whateva. canada has made me a pudgy lil man. of bono-like proportions.

we need some gin dogs to fly some toasters down this way. cobra command orders it be so.

obd:
Dogslife, sir, you write a fine story. I have a difficult time with the first irl meeting protocol as well. Properly managed, a bit of nerves is a good thing - lets you know you are alive and forces you to pay enough attention to do well [whatever the task at hand]. If you're never nervous, you're not livin'.
Have a good weekend.

hey aren't you supposed to be writing about robots or something?

Write more about the time i came to visit and was awesome.

Or maybe about the time i kept getting electrocuted by your monitor like a complete dumbkopff.

I took Siv and thehedgehog around Toronto again today. No, they haven't moved in: they leave tomorrow. frown

Meh. It's time I got back to my stupid life anyway. (That's not as mopey as it sounds: Hedge probably knows what I mean.)

If I had more computers here they'd each have a ton of pictures posted in their journals, so I apologize to all of you...

Bi-coastal Bank robberies pulled off by groups consisting solely of SOLM members and minor internet celebrities. There can be no victor in this popularity contest as the only people worthy of decreeing a victor have long since sailed onto Valhalla or are much too busy being with Bond Girl Orgies.

Those were some damn good pics of you Mr. Fehr.

You know, when you go on your book tours, you're either going to have to cover it up during the signing portion or show it off to every person in line. I think your choice will be largely determined by what kind of books you write.

it was so great meeting you this weekend...i totally wish i could have been around for the whole tatoo thing. sorry we didn't get to hang out more...if you're ever in the mitten you have a place to stay with either mk or i...

Fuck you, American Eagle. They're here safe and sound--I need you no more!

Siv and Monsieur Hedgehog are here--seriously, like right behind me--and we're all getting along splendidly. There was a brief tense moment at the airport when hedge and I had to negotiate a handshake. Nobody was hurt too badly. And no penises were exposed.

Both of them look nothing like they do online....
