Although nice, I'm disappointed in the surprising lack of ninja star analogies.

I really dig this poem. I still slightly prefer the one about nocturnal inspiration striking with only an inkless pen at hand, but this one is damn good. Keep it up!
I spent far too long trying to get a vlookup to work on two columns.
Excel is totally giving me the "new guy" treatment.
I need to figure out how to get more than 6 hours sleep a night and still get to work early enough so I can be home earlier than 6:30. Time machine schematics welcome.

HAHA. you know me well enough to remember my walnut-sized (not textured!) bladder makes urination a large part of any job i command. I thought that was why Barnes and Noble hired me, actually.
I had a very good first week.

Yeah, I saw those at work the other day and wanted to send you the link but I'm wary of logging onto this forbidden land for fear of getting fired.
Do I have your email address?

I'm liking the new job.
Today I called stores in every timezone in the country.
Tomorrow I'm going to begin rewriting all the store operational manuals to include no adjectives other than hard. (Yes, in bold.)

My brother's girlfriend's dad died today. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer hardly two months ago, which prompted him to retire at once so he could spend the rest of his days fishing. He opted not to go through chemotherapy; he reasoned that if it turns out he's not got long to go he'd prefer to spend the little time he's got doing something...

Sounds like he was a great man with a great way of living. Thanks for the support on my Chicago trip, things went well. I guess it's all just a 'Simple Twist of Fate ".
Thanks again for the correction.

I'm sorry to hear about this. It does sound as though he was at peace. I know you, your brother and the rest of your family will be supportive of her. My condolences.

New job starts at 9 am tomorrow. I've already begun carefully selecting my attire. This is harder than it looks. Like poetry.

Just wear anything with elbow patches. You're sure to be a success. Except maybe a tube top with elbow patches. That might just cause a stir, especially if it were sequined. I would recommend steering clear of anything with sequins.
See, I'm good at this.

give those corporate fucks hell, meng.
If you're like me and you leave your desktop computer on at all hours, think about downloading the software from Folding@home. It's a distributed computing app from Stanford, where they're studying how and why proteins fold. They explain it all quite well on the site, but the thing that sold me was that the knowledge gained from these studies will expand our understanding of...

Not sure what to get my little brother for his birthday. He's turning 15.
(For those of you keeping score, and it always surprises me to find out that any of you are, this isn't the musician brother. This is the one from my dad's second marriage.)

For real! I'm more fascinated by the civil engineering of my dreamland than the analysis, actually. In my dreams, I'm a city planner! My parents always wanted me to be an architect......
I smell of sweat, smoke, beer, and pot.
