HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!!!!
I have very high hopes for 2004 I must say. 2003 was a very reflective year for me. I had a lot of down time for a minute and it gave me time to think and rebuild and try to figure out just what the fuck I'm doing with my life.
There's still no solid plan yet, but I feel a lot better about going with the flow at this point. I still would like to get back in school at some point, and I still want to get out of this God forsaken city, but it's working out for now I guess. Plus I'm starting to see a lot more options for getting out. I'm just kinda waiting to see what happens I guess. Sort of like a runningback who waits for the perfect gap in order to gain the most yardage. (or something, that's a weak analogy.)
But enough of that. It's only 2 more days until the big show. I really hope I get a good turnout. Not just because I want to make my money back, (everything over that is gonna go to the bands) but because I know the show is gonna rock either way. Especially Legbone and Drone. I really want people to see these bands.
If the kids just come out, I can guarantee they will wanna be at my other shows no matter who's playing. I mean they got the chance to walk off with a $239 guitar for a minimum of 10 bucks. (five @ the door + 5 for the raffle ticket.) Plus I'm giving away free CD's, buttons, patches, stickers, and other shit.
The show is gonna be recorded live which may get turned into an album, and who knows this just might be the show that gets one of the bands signed. (Adeline records has already requested a copy of the recording)
But Toledo audiences are known for being fickle and very cynical. (everybody knows the scene in Toledo sucks.) But I'm one of those starry eyed dreamers who thinks I can change the world yet alone the shitty ass state of affairs here in T-town. The advantage is I know the in's and outs of Toledo music. I know the major players who fucked shit up and caused it to be the way it is. I know the history, I know who' who as far as what's going on currently, and I got the right people on my side. Plus I know exactly what snakes to look out for. We'll see what I can do.
Anyway, I didn't get to read my poem at the open mike the other night. I waited too long to get on the list and then they ran out of time. That's cool though, I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked to have been anyway. Plus I got better material than what I had, I just gotta find it and get the nerve to do it out loud.
By the way here's the first verse of that song I was writing, feel free to add to, edit, comment, criticize or whatever you want to it. I need to make something happen with it.
Girl, you don't know me but you're in my dreams,
I'm havin' fantasies 'bout making you scream,
I gotta get it out I gotta come clean, I
Can't ignore you.
I've seen you all around, I've checked you on the scene,
That smile you flash around is never what it seems,
Don't wanna condescend, I'm not tryin to be mean but,
I implore you
What kind of thoughts are runnin' round in your head,
You look so bored I think you'd rather be dead,
You'd think that scares me, but it's drawing me instead, see
I adore you
(and now for the suck ass chorus)
You're my type,
You got an aura I like,
Now I got you in my sights,
I wanna see you tonight
(That's one of several versions but they all suck just as bad.)
And now for you all to butcher it.
