Well I didn't really expect to get any journal responses on my first post, but the fact that I did is pretty frickin awesome. (and I really don't use the word awesome very much... like some people I know.) But anyway, it sounds like I missed one hell of a party which is a shame because I've only been to one really good party since I've been back from living in Florida, and I've almost been back a year.
I'm still trying to decide how detailed to make this journal. I quit keeping my personal journal a while ago. Not for any specific reason, I just kinda forgot to keep writing. I need to get back in the habit of that because not only is it cathartic for me, it also helps me organize my thoughts and I feel more intellectual when I wax philosophical for two or three pages while getting things off of my chest. Even if no one else reads it. But I'm sure this probably isn't the place for all of that.
So you tell me, you guys are the ones reading this. What kind of shit do you want to hear from me. Obviously you don't really know me yet, so you can't say what you want to hear my two cents about, but if you ask I'll do my best to answer, so you no longer have an excuse for not getting to know what makes me tick.
One thing I love to talk about though is music. I'm the kind of person who is in the record store every Tuesday looking to add something new to my collection. (Even if it came out ten or twenty years ago it can still be new to me.) I kind of got out of the habit though because I wasn't holding a steady job for any decent period of time. Now I think I'll end up staying at my current gig, so I'll probably end up being a regular again. So I'll gladly give a report on whatever ends up in my player every week. And I'm all about expanding my already eclectic mix of tastes, so suggestions are very welcome. (I really need to listen to more Sonic Youth so tell me what I should start out with.)
Last week I copped "The Thirteenth Step" by A Perfect Circle. It's not too bad, there are a couple of standout tracks but it didn't grab me like the first one did. I'm sure with more listens it will grow on me. Today I decided to get the Outkast double album "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" just because I haven't listened to any mainstream hip-hop in a while and I figure this will be one of the few rap albums that will both get a lot of airplay and be bearable, but I'm just now listening to it so we shall see.
But that's enough from me for now. (In fact it might be a little too much... is it too long?) Anyway, give me feedback... cause I need that. Thanks for making me feel welcome. Till next time.
