Last night I went to see "A Band Called Pain" with a friend from workat the world famous Whiskey-a-go-go. They're a metal band and their lead singer used to be in this R&B group called "Christion", signed to Jay-Z's Rockafella records. I ended up spending most of the night standing shoulder to shoulder with Dawn Robnson from Envogue who may or may not have been wearing bondage pants. Also spotted at the show were comedian Aries Spears and members of Fishbone. An interesting night I must say but the kind I'm getting more and more used to the longer I stay in LA.
I work today but actually have tomorrow off because of the James Brown show. Coincidentally the Roots will also be doing an in-store at Amoeba records the same day. Now at Amoeba these things usually happen at 7, but this particular appearance is scheduled for 5:30. This means I'll be able to go see them and have just enough time to leave from there and get to the Hollywood Bowl for JB.
Week after next I think I'm gonna go check out the Temeculah film festival and then the week after that is Massive Attack x2 with DJ Shadow and TV on the Radio respectively. At the end of the month on the 30th I'll have another party at my place and then next month I'm gonna try and get out to the Pittsburgh Halloween party as it's a pretty solid tradition for me at this point.
On another note, here's a little word of advice. When you're too pushy of a salesman you actually lose business. I'm pretty much set on buying a Mazda soon so I went to test drive one and check out the options I could get. Of course I didn't tell the salesman I had slready decided to get the car, but what I did tell him was that I was looking to purchase in 3-6 months. That means I want you to tell me about the options available, and convince me that I've made the right choice by telling me why I should go with the Mazda over the Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. I do not want you to tell me about the deal going on right now that I can't pass up and the fact that you can have me driving off the lot today. The only thing you helped me do that day was realize that when the time comes I could probably get a pretty nice Mazda 6 for the price I was willing to spend on a fully loaded tricked out Mazda Speed 3. However thanks to your pushiness and the fact that you called me at 8 in the morning yesterday saying you could make it happen (even after I told you I don't have my full down payment ready and I have 1 or 2 credit issues that I'll have cleared up by the end of next month) I'm not only going to buy from another salesman, but from a completely different dealer.

the Nokia 8801 is an awesome phone...just really expensive. but with the quartz screen and stainless steel body it should last a long while. also the mp3 player, fm radio, and bluetooth capbilities make it pretty cool.
