Added a few more pics around my existing albums. You're welcome to those of you who were hoping for something like these smile

Wanted to also post something I wrote for my anthropology class that is along the same lines as the article Nacirema, for those who have read it. If you haven't, I suggest you do, especially if you are familiar with American ways. You will likely find it amusing.

The temple is filled with a bright white light. Hieroglyphs of all colors cover the expanse of the room. The meanings of the pictographs are mysterious, unintelligible to all but the priests and priestesses who dwell there. Talismans and amulets are scattered about within the crystal altar. Men and women come and gaze upon the hieroglyphs and the treasures sealed away. Their voices, hushed, echo throughout the chamber. There is much discussion about what the meanings might be. Like a scarlet letter, these worshippers must find the symbol that best expresses their sin. A priestess tells the story of one particular talisman to a male follower. He listens and seems to find salvation within the story. Herein the ritual begins.

Parchment is given to the man, upon which he writes the required prayer to the god or goddess of his ancestors. This he returns to the temple priestess. Once the prayer is sealed away, the man follows her to a sacred chamber. Here the talisman is placed in baptismal water. Once it enters the water, no human hands may touch it. The man waits patiently, exposing his body to the priestess. He has offered up prayers through this ritual before, as is evidenced by his scarred body. This is worship through suffering, an offering of humiliation, a sacrifice of body and spirit. Practitioners hope for forgiveness for their past sins. Some markings are displayed conspicuously, while others are not. It would appear that this man has done great harm, for he must continue his lesson.

A mystical barrier separates the priestess from the sacred object. She prepares the mans body by rubbing a potion over the previously scarred area. The priestess manipulates the scar with ancient sacraments, and the amulet expressing the mans past sin is exchanged for the new talisman, which is far larger than the one before it. The pain is clear, as it radiates from his eyes and lips. The talisman burns into his nerve endings, wracking his body with the guilt of his evil actions. He sends up a prayer of redemption to his ancestors god, and his fate is sealed. He is given the old amulet as a reminderno sin shall ever be forgotten.

It references something I recently experienced. Feel free to guess to what you think I am referring. I love riddles ^_^

Peace out kids. Much love.

lockeblade:
I liked the story; I just finished teaching a sociology unit that used Nacirema in it so it was good timing.

Looks to me like you've offered up your rear to a cat-o-nine in one of those pics. I wonder what sin you were seeking forgiveness for...
