I saw Be Your Own Pet a while back at Murphy's (and they were great!) I was excited to learn that they coming back to town a month or so later to play a bigger show at the Young Avenue Deli. Well, I was there that night. The band's gear was on-stage. The show was close to starting. Rock & Roll, mother-fucker! And then they announced that the show had been cancelled. What the fuck?! They were there! Their gear was there. I found out that earlier in the day, Jemina, the lead singer, had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, who is also in the van. The fight lasted all afternoon, people screamed, inanimate objects were kicked. But things were worked out for the sake of the show. Almost. By show time, Jemina was holed up in the band van. She was reportedly very upset and crying and refused to do the show.

I guess it's a good thing I saw them at Murphy's that one night at two in the morning. (By the way, Jemina rules!)
