we took the janie cat into the vet yesterday for a general check up. i hadn't taken her in since the fall of '01, but she's always seemed fine, so i never really had a reason to.

lately she's been wheezing a bit. not gasping for air or anything, but making a different sound while she's resting. now as long as i've had her, she's been an inside cat, and ang and i live in a 2 room apartment. we also used to smoke in here. since she quit about a year ago, i've been going outside everytime i need a cig.

so since janie's been wheezing, we thought it might be something with her lungs since she's kind of tubby, and we used to smoke inside.

the vet checked her out and apparently her lungs are fine. however, she had an abcessed tooth. her fang. like bucky katt's fang, it's part of her charm.

not anymore. the vet said that she was most likely in pain every time she went to eat. so yesterday, on top of 2 booster shots, she had her fang removed.

as pissed as she was when he took it out, she seems fine. i think she forgot about it as soon as the immediate pain went away. it's ang and i who are all traumatized over the new janie cat look.

so she's on a 10 day antiboiotic treatment, and at the end of that he said she should be a much happier cat than she has been in quite a while.

aside from the random heavy breathing, she never gave us a sign that anything was wrong. oh well, now that she's taken care of, i just hope she'll be more comfortable and happy.

she's got a week of soft food ahead and some tuna just for being such a little trooper.
