Its the little things that matter. For some its the coffee breaks strategically taken throughout the day, for others it might be as simple as taking out the trash and getting a breath of fresh air. Working out in the oil fields doesnt have many perks or breaks at all for that matter, its a constant grind. The unofficial motto around the patch seems fitting: make it happen. Whatever it takes, just make it work and continue on. But in the heat of a 110 degree Texas summer its not always easy. One thing Ive noticed is the American flag that is put on every derrick. A small token of pride and respect; something to take your mind off of the fact that youre covered in mud and sweat trying to knock that hammer unit off of an 8 joint. No matter how bad it gets out here, I can only help but imagine how much worse it might be for the soldiers in Iraq, or Afghanistan, or anywhere else in the middle of some third world desert country. Thats what I think about every time I catch a glimpse of the flag up there. Its no coffee break but it sure keeps me going.

The people giving you advice in the Open Carry Thread, are idiots. I am a former USMC infantryman, private miltary contractor, and presently a law enforcement officer. I train and compete year round. Please take my advice.
