The Maori say that the past is what is before us.

An awe-inspiring image of passing beauty
wanting but no longer seeing the fallacy.
A glimpse in passing appetizes the insatiable
an unlikely hero won't change her mind.
It's nothing more than a frenetic, reckless urge.

Fearless trepidation begets reckless desire
as I fall back to nothing just to rise again twofold.
Self subjegation and self denial become everyday
as an unlikely way of walking the lighted path.
Once a taste and feel of sun-soaked splendor
now a reminder of walking a mile in the sun.

___________

About glory and all that uninspired, limited imagination bullshit. Glory is for those whose concave idea of vision is always focused inwardly and the adjective suggests. Whose ideas are limited to the shared beliefs of their intellectual peers that long for the same things and admonishments. Often nothing more than longing to be an exact copy of another person whom endured a hardship in an ongoing saga of repetition purely for the sake of continuity.

Inline with the 'more of the same' line of thought, a glorious notion fails to impress someone that needs and longs for an awe-inspired originality through idea and dream. Like a way of getting outside purely for the motivations of witnessing where you came from as a neutral observer. As we do underwater; looking up and out to view the bluest of clear skies on the sunniest of calm days. As it were a mirror we approached and walked through, only to turn around and view from whence we came. To get a better look into the fractal perversity of our world and it's inherent beauty. And the inherent flaws of our nature. The beauty however, is found in dreams as well, and in those dreams are the cumulative imagination of our species-- shared as it were a hive mind with no recollection of each other.

Imagination comes through the dream, in my mind. The stuff of existing beyond flesh, and the path we follow to discover more than the bone, blood, skin that holds ourselves inside. We can become something else entirely by pushing the envelope, that of safefy through complacency.

Once there was a unifying belief that as people in a collective effort (civilization), we should and will resolve to put ourselves and our unity above that of all others. This is well-meaning and definitely survival oriented but the truth of it is that a severe lack of imagination and foreward thinking brought about that convoluted idea. It's a mission statement of sheer intent to conquer, divide and fear all that is different. All that is unknown and uncomfortable-- a xenophobic manifesto hidden on the back flap of a survival brochure.

Why such continuous failure to be of a progressive intent and effort has not been more widely noticed and understood is likely caused by a deep-seeded comfort found in keeping things as they are. Safe and sound will see us through any storms that come, no matter how sweeping and 'perfect'. No white whale will capsize our beliefs as they have lasted this long. The fallacy of a limited imagination, challenged or unchallenged, continues to be the reason I'm so jaded in my 'seemingly' special insight on life.

Just make the bad people go away. And I'll choose to stay.
