Operation: Masque
Mission: To create an original facial adornment with out getting my wallet raped...

3 x blank masks (I jush KNOW there'll be mistakes)
1 250g Gesso (I now know just how evil this stuff can be)
1 pot off white perlecent acrylic
1 pot each of Royal Blue, Red and Green glass paint (it's transparent)

so... $60 later I have my materials...

At this stage I start sketching on the masks and working out what I need to do to get the damn things to fit... (so I've got a big head ok?)

The chin section gets the chop! (stuffed one up here now down to two)

Then comes the prep work, slathering on the gesso to give me a reasonable work surface.

MMMMmm the masks are getting flimsy with the moisture... Into the OVEN on 150! Doing this I can rotate the masks as I apply layers of gesso.

I did try sanding the stuff but GOD DAMN! It really doesnt like being sanded!

I applied the first coat of the pearlescent paint (it really doesnt like heat... frown no matter it looks interesting now)

well the masks are now drying o/night

Oh and I spent $349 on some new boots... eeek

Hymm... I hope I get to see the fantastic masque you have described!! frown

Thanks for the wonderful offer... I have the flight down straight to Canberra already locked in. If I can afford it at all, I will investigate whether a flight from Sydney to Brisbane is cheaper than Canberra to Brisbane and may take you up on the offer of a lift back from Canberra to Sydney... must do sums. Will report back.

And yes, the *evil convincing glare* might come out, though with the lovely comments I've received so far, apparently existing is working equally as well!

Thanks!!! biggrin
