so it's been an interesting and relatively eventful week. people have pissed me off, some people have made me happy, i've made people happy, and i've had some fun.
I have a 2nd interview at UT in a couple weeks, and i'm really looking forward to that. The position would be so damn cool. And the benefits are crazy great. I'm trying to keep my excitement in check so i don't get overly disappointed if I don't get it, but for right now, I'm being excited.
So... I was riding my motorcycle home from work yesterday evening, and i'm pulling off of the stop light at Cesar Chavez and Lamar, and I go to shift into 2nd, and there is no resistance, and the bike doesn't change gears... I look down and the shifter is shaking and flopping around loose. So screaming in first gear and trying to keep the rpms down, i find a place to pull off. Luckily it's a minor problem, but I didn't reall have the tools to deal with it there. the splined shaft of the shifter came out of the splines of the shift arm lever... fun. so, i take my minimal tools and get it back in as best I can, try to tighten the nut, and then take the electrical tape and wrap it around the assembly to hold it in place (hopefully). It held and I limped home... Got some wrenching to do later...
