-10 pm - Doc and the Shaman featuring Mike Blue of the David Allan Coe Band
-Rollerderby girl wrestling between bands
Admission: one new unwrapped toy (suggested value $20) or cash donation ($5 minimum)
Silent auction of goods and services of local downtown artist and craftsmen.
Raffles.
CDs and other giveaways.
Bud and Beam promotions.
On December 3rd Elysium Nighclub will donate the door, the barstaff will donate their tips, and local artist will donate goods and services for a silent auction. All the money will be used to purchase food and toys for the J.W.Rock Foundation to distribute.
The significance of the name The Island of Misfits Toy Drive is special because the tattooed and pierced crowd that gravitate toward the Red River area seldom get the chance to help society. The barstaff, which will be a collection of bartenders that both: work at some of the edgier clubs downtown and happen to have a Friday night off, are donating the entire tip pool to the cause.
ALSO Saturday at Jimbo's Last Resort just south of beautiful downtown Manor on 973 there will be an all day party for the foundation as well. There will be food, music & entertainment all day long.
All of this is for area families, and as someone who has, and will again, deliver a family food and toys for Christmas, there is no more amazin feeling that knowing that you've helped make some kid's holiday special. We go out all year long, having a great time, primarily focused on our own lives, this is a chance for you to go out, have some beers, see some great music, AND help someone else while doing it!!!
