You know, despite the fact that I just received a phone call from the work place asking me to come in at 2 tomorrow morning (yeah, four hours from now), I am truely blessed.

I'd like to state, for the record, that I have a wonderful family. Even the crazies & the ones I don't really care for. Yep, all of 'em. I just got home from my grandparents' house where Grandma and Grandpa taught me and three of my cousins to play all sorts of wacky poker games. So much fun! And who knew there were so many types of poker? Seven Toed Peter? No See 'Em? I think Grandma and Grandpa made some of that shit up! It was a blast. I'm wondering now, why Texas Hold 'em is so effing popular. Any ideas? That one sucked the most. It's very likely that I'm of that opinion because I lost when we played... Meh.
I also learned Spite and Malice & was neck and neck with Grandma till the end. She always wins, and she says that it's because she's Irish. I'm Irish too, I demand a rematch!

I'm going to go take a nap. mmm, kay.

Texas hold'em is only popular in the US, because it's the game played at the World Series of Poker. After Chris Moneymaker, a lowly accountant, bought in for $40 online and won it for $3.5 million in 2003, pretty much everyone thought they could do it too. It's also a simple game to learn, so it's accessible to many people.

The most popular game around the world is Omaha, which is similar but uses four cards, requires you to use two of them, and is a lot crazier because you almost always win with a straight or a flush. It's an action game. Seven card stud is also popular, and most poker players believe the test of true poker skill is doing well in events like HORSE (Hold'em, Omaha, Razz, Seven card stud, and Stud Eights or Better).
