From RateMyProfessors:
She grades super tough. looking for specific things, but wouldn't tell you what they were. class average on weekly quizzes was 60%. forgetful and absentminded. awkward to talk to her. NOT recommended!!

Man, this lady is the worst professor I've ever taken. I wish I had known about her before I signed up for the class. Only one person so far is getting a B and everyone else is getting C's and D's. If I had gotten my midterm back before the drop period was over, i would have dropped this stupid class.

Dr. Plimpton is unprepared for class on a regular basis. You are expected to hand in assignments on time but you wont get them handed back. The term ends in 4 weeks and I still dont have my papers from the first three weeks of class. She changes her test styles without warning so you never know how to prepare for her exams.

This class was a filler class for me for fun.It turned out to be a nightmare. She was an awful teacher who gave strange, fragmented lectures and unusually hard tests. She also assigned homework that took 12 hours to complete then graded so hard on it I don't think anyone recieved more than a C on.
I think she could be more interesting. She made my favorite subject boring and difficult. Her tests are really hard too, I swear there was stuff on them that we NEVER learned!

Very hard instructor. Would give you lee way if you asked for it sometimes. Knows her subject well and is very interested/excited by/in it, but way too much work for a 100 or even 200 level class.

gave good lectures. BUT never handed back ANY assignments. none. gave students manilla envelopes on the last day of class and promised to send graded work to their homes -- never happened. seems to enjoy making students with questions feel stupid on her whim. she's like a mean aunt.

The quizzes often did not pertain to lecture or reading material. I've spoken to many other students of hers, and none were happy with the courses they took. It's impossible to do well unless you've had previous anthropology programs
...this certainly does not bode well!
nevertheless, i'm not one to back down from a challenge. i have every confidence that i can do the work and do it well. this term WAS supposed to be an easy one though.

the door guard at safeway thought that i was shoplifting earlier this evening.
1. EAS system goes *beepbeepbeep**crazymad*beepbeepbeep*
2. door guard goes "can i see your receipt?"
3. disdain goes "mmm... no. not tonight."
4. door guard goes to disdain's room mate "is she serious?"
5. disdain and room mates walk away.
6. door guard follows and makes urgen cell phone call.

highlight of my day... that, and the new flavors in the family pack of orbit gum that i bought at target.

oldgreeneyes:
Damn! Sorry to hear about your prof. Hope you can make the best of it and not let her get you down (too much). I have a couple of friends that were anthropology majors in college and they seemed to like it quite a bit. Hang in there and good luck!
