The imminent obliteration of San Francisco California

Oh baby, check this out. This coming weekend, the lovely and talented Itzamna and I are going to have a house in SF all to ourselves. As the story goes, her cousin and her boyfriend have this gigantic god damn house that even has a BACK YARD apparently, and this weekend they are going to Arizona. So, being...

Oh yeah, and I'm a big drunk puke

I actually might have been able to make it out there with like a weeks notice. Hmmmm.... maybe a visit is nigh?

An unrealistic sense of accomplishment.

Yes indeed. Not that any of you are actually going to care about all this, but I actually made a working, filter modulated patch on my wonderful little Korg Prophecy. God damn, what a hard synth to program, but when you actually get something good, stand back.
In other news, I had the pleasure of seeing Bruce Campbell, in...

In general, I suck at making friends. The last time that I had to was when I started college. But as I am a smoker, and at that particular time understress from the whole new situation thing, I was smoking like mad. So I just wound up talking to the other people outside my dorm smoking. Luckily quite a few of them were cool. What is the lesson here? Smokers are better people.
mrstitches:
Now that you mention it people with either natural breathing problems, or smokers who gain similar problems are cool. I have a lot of asthmatic friends. I must attract people who are short of breath.

Ugh.
2 days ago I was looking at SG and thinking about how I desperately needed to update my journal. So I clicked Edit Preferences, and stared blankly at the Update and Edit Your Journal field.
C'mon, think you bastard! You must have something interesting to say for christs sake!
screamed that abusive voice in my head. I stared and stared and came up...

I just read neuromancer last week. Good times. I really want to read pattern recognition. It sounds good. As for staring at the fabled blank white box. . .not having anything worth saying has never stopped me before. Which is odd because in the real world I won't say anything if I don't having anything to say. Stupid inter-net.
billenium:
Hey man, your run is a helluva lot better than mine. You've written like, I dunno, a bunch of journals. Including one explaning your mysterious disapearence. Plus, people actually read yours. That has to say something.

THAT: "Something."

see?

oh yeah, I'm tired.

Life in Northern California

Okay, first you have to understand what its like growing up on Long Island. Either you're on the East End, where there is nothing but nice scenery, the worst people on the planet, and nothing resembling a dignified job, or you're somewhere in the dilapidated middle, where everything kind of melds together into one ugly brown suburban sprawl packed with people...

Late night Linear Systems

Right, so now that dinner is over and the dishes are...well, piled on the counter waiting to be loaded into the dishwasher once we get more dish detergent, it's time to get my evening underway.

Or rather, its time to get my DAY underway, since I woke up at 3pm today. My life is rapidly turning into Dark City:
"where'd the...

Hey.

You know who rules?
Everyone on my friends list.
Yeah, you know it, its okay to brag. And strut. And boast.
So give it up for your bad selves.

And if you're not on my friends list?
Well, I'm very sorry, but you suck.
Except for Deckwreck, he's pretty cool. And Mnislahi can take a joke, so big up for her as well.
But...

And thus it is done!

Yes, this morning at 3:50 am I finally finished One Hundred Years of Solitude. And god damn, what an unbelievable book. I'm still reeling from the onslaught. In a way I'm glad it's over because now I can get back to my life(!!) but after spending what actually felt like an entire century with the Buendias in Macondo and witnessing...

Decisions, decisions

okay, so I'm almost done with 100 Years of Solitude, and now I need something to read next. While part of me just wants to dive right back into Japanese and Information Theory, another part of me is very happy that I've been doing so much reading. The next book I had scheduled was Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, but after 100 Years,...

The Great Weirdening of CoreOfSelf continues.

And is speeding up, I think.
Since I've moved to California I haven't met anyone except for the people I'm living with. Nobody. Why? Because I'm terrible at meeting people. This doesn't really bother me though.
The problem is that now that I don't really interact with humans in real time, I'm getting really weird. REALLY weird. I can't...

pulloffmywings:
Whoa, I completely know how you feel. I knew no one when I first moved here. And when I got my job I didn't open up to the girls I work with for about 3 months. I met one person by just talking to them. but yeah. I've lived here 7 months and still don't know many people.

Just try your luck, find a point of common interest and go from there.
deckwreck:
Bwahahahahaha!
That was pretty funny.

Oh, and I just enjoy annoying my friends, which is why i spent St. Patty's making fun of the Irish.

Best book sale ever at the worst library ever??

Yes indeed! On my first trip down to our local Los Gatos town library, I found myself utterly disappointed. Not only by the miniscule size of the facility, but by the complete lack of certain sections and the incompleteness of the ones they actually had. What a shame.
But, upstairs, they had a truly excellent book...
