Silent Hill. You wouldn't believe what having all those monsters around does to property values.

down the tubes

So I went ahead and signed up for this UCSC extension class, and it sure is neato. By the end of it I will be the Almighty Keeper of the Arcane Secrets of Digital System Design Using Verilog. The prospect thrills me, and fills me with a sensation of raw power. The problem is that this course costs 1000 dollars. No, wait, that's not the problem: the problem is that I have no income. Right. But hey, it sure does feel good to be reconnecting with the stuff that made me want to be an engineer in the first place. It feels SO good, in fact, that I've been driving to Sunnyvale every day since I signed up for the course so that I can screw around in the open UNIX lab making silly digital circuits that don't really do anything important. It's fun. Basically, every day I see the same 3 people: a dude named Nelson who's in my Verilog class, some russian dude who's taking an HVL course in something called Vera, and some other Asian dude who is taking....I have no idea what. Invariably the conversation turns to the job market; it seems to me that the UCSC Extension's entire mission is to give unemployed technical people something to spend money on while they wait in vain for companies to decide that it would be fun to hire Americans again. whatever And let me tell you, those guys are GLOOOOOOOOMY. I thought I was pessimistic about my employment future, and...well....yeah I guess I am rather pessimistic...but compared to those dudes I'm pretty upbeat. Yes, I know that companies are closing plants in America and moving operations over to India. Yes, I know that companies can wait indefinitely for the perfect person who fits every single criterion of their ridiculous job postings and then pay them 2/3 of what they're worth. I know I know I know.....now PLEASE just write your code and cool it with the negativity.
Well, whatever. I'm having fun writing HDL code again...so I guess I'll just concentrate on that for now.

Ugh.
Maybe looking at pictures of my kitten will cheer me up.

Hmm. That's actually working.

Wow...I always wanted to know the Almighty Keeper of the Arcane Secrets of Digital System Design Using Verilog. I'm a History/Sociology major working in investor relations so I have little idea of what you meant. Kitten kicks ass though.
