No, Check out "Acadian" on wiki, you'll get plenty information. But to make a long story short, the Acadians where a French colony who came to the Americas to live (pretty much taking the native's land, converting them to Christianity, introducing guns and liquor to them...not so proud of) They built villages and settled down living from fishing, farm, hunting and so on. Then in 1755, the English came with boats and guns and huge armies and told the Acadians if we did not sign an oath of allegiance to the crown, we would be deported. Signing this treaty would mean fighting in wars against the French or Indians, which where allies and especially family back in France. The Acadians refused, and thus began the massive deportation of the Acadian people. The women and Men where separated and shipped to different places including France, the U.S (Louisiana) and other places. After the dust settled some of the Acadians came back, including my decedents. You'll still find families all over the world with Acadian "roots" Hahaha.
