This is about a month old, but it's still worth posting!
At the end of August melly and I took a trip to New Jersey for a horror movie convention. I finally decided to post some highlights from the trip to New Jersey for the horror movie convention since I just found my trip notes I wrote down during it. The original journal entry I worked on was about 6 pages long, so here are some highlights from the trip in the order that they happended. Check out Some of Melly's Photos from the convention for some of the pic's.
DAY ONE - 8/26/2004
* Left Louisville at 7PM on 8.26.2004 and I drove.
* Passed a Ford Focus painted up like the american flag with a wrecked rear end.
* Drove 700 miles from Louisville to NJ
* Pulled over to sleep for 30 mintues but couldn't sleep, but saw a huge rig next to us with the words "show me your panties" painted under the side window of the cab.
* After being awake for 23 hours, continued another 50 miles to Red Bank, NJ
* Went to Jay and Slient Bob's Secret stash. A comic book slash toy store with only the coolest stuff. Also, there is a mini Kevin Smith museum in the whole rear of the store. Highlights include: Two full size life like as Bluntman and Cronic riding in the blunt mobile, the full size buddy Christ, the sign for Brodie's comic store and a lot of props from the movies.
* Got lost trying to follow "basic" directions to the Quick Stop and RTS video. The transportation department of New Jersery should be shot. Streets changed names for no reason and then changed back, roads went in all directions, and you can't make left turns at lights in a lot of NJ. You have to make any U turns and left hand turns by doing what sounds and is very retarded. You turn right onto set designated C shaped turn around things called "jug-handles", and then area able to go across the street. So, if you see a place on the opposite side of the street you have to drive about 2 minutes down the road, hope you can get into the right lane and then turn around and go back and hope like hell you don't miss the turn into the place. Traffic on the other hand flows extremely well despite the fact everyone in a 60 mile radius of NJ drives very very fast, and that means everyone.
* Got to the hotel about 3:20 in the afternoon on 8/27 and slept for 3 hours to end my 27 hours of no sleep.
* Went to Wal-Mart and noticed a pack of Marlboro Reds cost $6.97 and the carton was just over $63.
DAY TWO - 8/27/2004
* Got up early and watched some local news. Top story was a kid was killed while riding one of those pocket mini-bikes. The best part, or funny part that is, was after he hit the car and was lying their bleeding on the ground, a another juvenile came up and stole the bike. The kid that hit the car died about two days later, so I guess he didn't need the bike anymore!
* Since we were advanced ticket holders we got to see the original Friday the 13th uncut version on the original film stock thru a film projector. It was a packed room, the film was grainy and rough and discolored, and the sound was average but that is what made it so cool.
* Went to the autograph room for some signatures from some of the horror movie actors.
* CJ Gram from Friday the 13th made his move on Melly by grabbing onto her hips during a photos ... Lucky guy!
* Besty Palmer from Friday the 13th was amazing. Melly almost began to almost cry when she got to meet here. Betsy got up and came around and gave her a hug and said, "I am just like everyone else, stuff goes in one end (points to her mouth) and it comes out the other end!"
* Cid Haig from Spider Baby and House of 1000 Corpses was great too and we told him just write anything he wanted on the photos. So, he decided to write, "Why you asking so many fucking jackassy questions?" Pure gold!
* While chilling outside for a smoke , I turned around and Robert England walked out with some escorts. Some random fan said, "No running in the hallway!" This was done in the Freddy voice. Mr. England just responded with, "No! Let her run!" Done also in the Freddy voice. Good stuff!
* Watched a special Rocky Horror Picture Show done by the Pensylvinna Nipple Productions cast. The male cast was very good, but all but one of the female cast was just plain and ok. The show started with "little shop of Rocky Horror". This was the cast acting out just a few songs from Little Shop of Horror's, which was very good surprisingly. The Rocky show was actually one of the best versions I have seen. The guys playing Brad and Frank were very energetic and good at their roles.
* Met two very nice people from NJ, Maria and Terry and shot the shit for a while.
* Almost got into a fight with some drunk guy over him "telling us the truth" that he already saw the 4th season of Family Guy on Fox (that doesn't start till 2005) ... I decided to let it go since I knew he was full of shit.
* The Robert England line was super long so we are going to try stand in line early tomorrow morning.
DAY THREE - 8/28/2004
* We set alarms for 7am but get up at 11am, and since the line for Robert England is mad long, we are told to come back at 7am tomorrow to get in line.
* Today is a pure typical packed convention, filled with more punk rock goths the you can shake ya pee-pee at. Goth and punk rock makes up about 30 percent of who was there.
* We go out to get lunch but peep this. The McDonalds actually had a cool ass menu. The menu board was four wide screen monitors that made up the whole menu board. Looked fantastic and also each value meal would show a quick commercial of the food item spin around and then the usual menu screen would fade in. Call me crazy, but it was just cool.
* We enjoy to sent of a man we called Mr. Cat Vagina. This fat guy smells so bad, he smells like a fat gross smelly cat vagina. Horrible! I mean ... horrible.
* We left the convention and went off to South Street in Philly for a while to kill some time.
* Checked out a punk rock store called Zipperheads, Nocturnal Skateshop and a cool sex toy store called Condom Kingdom.
* While takin a break and enjoying a tasty beverage, we saw a chic with a super short skirt walking up the stairs infront of us and I noticed she was wearing black panties ... good times!
* We return to the convention and while we waited in line for a panel discussion we saw some goth chic with a skirt so short I could swear I could see her underwear ... and I have photos to prove it.
* We went to a question and answer panel discussion with Dick Warlock, Gunner Hanson, Tony Todd, CJ Gram and Sid Haig.
* here was this girl that kept talking with her loud ass mouth in front of us and just kept being louder. So I told that dumb ass goth chic, "I don't mean to be rude but can you please shut up."
* The next question and answer panel discussion was with Robert England and Ken Kerzinger and the crowd went nuts. Robert Englands answers were very detailed and entertaining. The whole thing was somewhat surreal.
* Started talking to a random guy outside and after introducing ourselves, this guy was like, "Melly Mel?" Turns out he was a friend of Melly's on the Friday the 13th forum that films documentaries. Also his friend happened to be that guy that said "no running in the hallway" to Robert England" the other day. Small world huh?
DAY FOUR - 8/29/2004
* We go down and wait in line for Robert England tickets at 7 am.
* We meet this guy that makes Elvis bust sculptures with a mix of rock-a-billy style to them. We rode to McDonalds to get some breakfast and he explained how he lost his license after two wrecks because he feel asleep at the wheel because he had narcolepsy. He ended up dozing off for a few seconds at a time on the way to McDonalds ... that was a little odd to say the least.
* We realized why the lines were so bad for Robert England over the weekend and why they had to end up handing out time vouchers to those that were in line but didn't get taken care of on Friday and Saturday night. We find out that Robert England loves the fans and likes to talk for a while and was doing personal photos with the fans. So instead of signing the estimated 50 photos per hour, he was doing more like 20 per hour. Also before our line got started the 4, 5, and 6 o'clock times from yesterday will be done after the pre-paid ticket signing voucher holders for today were done. Since Robert England had to leave to board a plane at 4pm, our time was getting short and our chances looked slim.
* While waiting inline and talking to a very nice family from upstate NJ, Gunner Hanson walk by with a pair of nice purple chucks on!
* Two kids walked by and we only caught the last portion of their conversation. The one kid responding with a semi-confused statement, "so ... that would make Freddy god then?"
* At 2:30 we meet Robert England and Melly gets almost in front of Robert and almost starts crying with joy. He asked her what was her name and could not speak. He then replied in his Freddy voice, "Don't be scared!" Then they talked for a few minutes about how much she liked his character and other things. He then at the end after sidning the photo grabbed her hand and kissed it. This was one moment I don't think she will ever forget.
* We go up to the room for a while and I sleep for a bit and then we get some food and come back. The area then looks like someone farted since everyone was
almost gone. We go and hang with Susan and Sid for a bit and talk to them about random things for about 20 minutes and then we go upstairs.
DAY FIVE - 8/30/2004
* On the way out of leaving the hotel we run into Ben Chapman and Dick Warlock and chat with them for a bit and Mel gets a picture with Dick. (Ah, that's a great
sentence.) We then almost forget our dirty laundry on the bed and have to go back for it.
* On the way home it's not much action except for noticing a sign that says "speed enforced from aircraft" ... weird.
* WV is full of ... well ... nothing ... oh ... and rednecks.
* We finally get home about 720 miles and 12 hours later and Melly's car was broken while we were gone... good times.
Well ... that was not the best thing to come home to .. but .. ya know ... fuck it ... the trip was still worth it!
I think that post should suffice for a few days! hehe

Yeah, I saw that site before, made me laugh hardy.
I think I need to update my journal, but I have nothing to say!
