Well ... last night I had a little gathering of friends over for my "day-after" birthday party to sit around, eat cake and drink some beers. I do want to thank all that was able to show up as I love you guys and gals!
Ok ... that was all fine and dandy and I had fun but I am going to go on a quick rate about something non-related to last night.
I feel I am an pretty open minded guy when it comes to comedy. I guess corporate america sees things a bit differently then I do since it seems to have nothing better to do then come down on some kids just trying to have fun. Huge corporations don't tend to find it humorous when some people with talent re-edit something of there's into something that is funny. A good example would be last year some guys edited a Peanuts cartoon with one of Outkasts songs. This was an amazing piece of work and was done tastefully. It was up for about a week before the owner of Peanuts found out about it. The owners to the rights to Peanuts though otherwise and decided it was not funny and ordered a cease and desist order to have that video taken down immediately. What a waste! Now another victim to corporate america has falling under and infringement suit.
Anyone that has spent hours on the net has probably heard about the recut and dubbed G.I. Joe Public Service Announcements that fenslerfilm did. These has been around for a while and has become somewhat infamous on the internet and are quite possibly some of the funniest bits of humor I have seen. While these videos have been available for over a year and are all over the internet, it looks like Hasbro finally saw the videos. Well, they decided to show their support for the videos by sending an email for infringement to the ones responsible on 9/7. ... lame!
At the moment you cannot download the files from fenslerfilm, but you should still be able to locate the films on other sites. Just search for GI Joe PSA and you should be able to find them.
Well, I am off to purchase a new mixer board at the local music shop!
