Ok, as I was saying, at least for Friday, Music Midtown was a huge pile of crapola. Since I missed Linger and Red Letter Agent (I ♥ local music) the best thing I saw other than Avenge Vegas kicking their normal copious amounts of ass, was the Metal-Some Monday band.
Yes folks, Kareoke was the best thing they had going for them.
I stayed as far away from Interpol as possible. I hate that band. Hate that boring ass, repetitive as hell band.
The White Stripes put on a show that would have only been halfway stirring had it been in some small indoor venue. I was surprised. I actually would have left during them had I not wanted to get a few pics of all the folks I know from the local groups, along with friends and family.
Pics I didn't get by the way!
I wish Avenge Vegas had gotten a better crowd, I figured they would, since they were in between the times for Interpol and the White Stripes, and the locals only stage was at most, 100 yards away from the 99x main stage, directly across.
And out of 120 pics of Avenge Vegas that I shot, guess how many turned out decent.
C'mon, guess.
Zero...
A few are passable I guess...
Lauren from A.V., Kenneth and Pat from Homeroom, and a couple other friends.
I guess if I'm going to try to get shots of some of these bands I enjoy seeing and that I've made friends with, I need to get a camera with a faster shutter speed, and whatever that option is that compensates for shaky hands.
Speaking of that Locals Only stage being so close and directly across from the main stage, Five Eight and the Pixies are playing on those stages, respectively, at the EXACT SAME TIME.
Both bands deserve better. That is going to sound terrible. Pat and I were actually discussing that how while the lineup is great this year, the scheduling is beyond stupid. Devo and Public Enemy play at the same time Sunday, and The Pixies, Five Eight, Tom Petty, and Black Eyed Peas play at the same time on Saturday. Now, is a mofo like me supposed to choose between that? I guess it's ok for a majority of folks that stick to one genre, I'm sure the people that went to the country stage wanted nothing to do with anything else. But I'm sure there were tons of people pissed about the scheduling.
At least the rain wasnt too bad.
