aw shucks. my little brother just played his last lacrosse game of the season and lost. they ended up 2nd overall for this division, but unfortunately the last 5 minutes of the game were taken up by poor calls by the underexperienced referees.

up to that point they'd done a fantabulous job of allowing these budding lacrosse stars to play without interruption...until his team's coach tried to call a time-out. the rules specifically state that a player needs to call time out, but the ref made a point of ignoring the coach until approximately 30 seconds remained in the game to mention that fact to him. subsequently, he gave the nod for one of his players to call a time-out. Now, the coach was already pissed off enough, but for some reason the ref gives possession of the ball over to the opposing team AND in my brother's team's zone. dirty words were said, and the coach gets a penalty for unsportsman like conduct.

this whole fiasco could have been avoided, i believe, had the organization made the call to bring in a level-up of ref's for each of the championship games. novice ref's for tykes, peewee ref's for novices, etc...it'd have made all these kids' final game that much more enjoyable, both for the kids and the parents' sakes.

but ice cream for supper rocks ass!!!
