Sunday's Story... We drove into the city around 2 and got there around 3, all ready for the Brazilian Girls who were playing at the Central Park Summer Stage. We got a great parking spot only 2 blocks from the park entrance with a hotel doorman's promise to watch the car in our absence. We hauled the camping chairs and backpack into the park and immediately saw that the line was pretty darn long. We got on the line and Mauricio cut out to ask a security guard if they would let us thru being that I am pregnant (milk it if you can). The answer was no. Then the guy said we couldn't bring out chairs in there. The guy didn't give a damn if my water was about to break, I was going to stand as much as the next guy. So Mauricio had to go haul the chairs back to the car. By the time he got back, the line was 4 times as long and at a dead stop. I wasn't facing the line so I had no idea what was forming behind me. It only took about 30 minutes to finally make it past the total waste of time security check. Brazilian Girls had already started their set. We get in the stage area and it's jam packed with people who laid their blankets down over the muddiness so you could hardly walk. I saw the bleachers were packed but headed for them anyway. I faced the bleachers and gave the fat men in the front row a pitiful pregnant lady look. Didn't work. So I just wiggled my butt in between two of the most forgiving looking at sat. The Brazilian Girls sounded amazing. I don't know how they looked (vertically challenged), but Mauricio said they looked great. Anyway, halfway through their set it started sprinkling. It was sooooo damn hot yesterday that everyone just kind of welcomed it and didn't even flinch. Well, until of course, a massive downpour started and nobody had time to even open their umbrellas before they got soaked. We thru on our raincoats and stuck it out for two more songs. They announced they were going to play one or two more. I couldn't believe how many people stuck it out and got completely drenched. We started for the car. My jeans weighed about a hundred pounds and we were both soaked completely thru. By the time we left the park, Brazilian Girls had stopped playing and headed for cover. We jumped in the car and drove around the block thinking about what we should do... we spotted an H&M and I ran in & bought a dress to throw on. We headed down to the village and ate the best falafel on Bleeker St. at the Olive Tree. We were home in time for Six Feet Under. It was a blast!
