well, how are things? my little town/city survived the edges of the hurricane which is absolutely wonderful for us..but so many others.....there was not much damage. a couple of trees down, power out, etc. of the like. the worst part is alexandria is running low on their water supply. yesterday, the city ordered all businesses to close to save what we could. i have to...

Glad to hear you made it unscathed... I used to have an employer like that... open for damned near anything. Hell, if it were the Apocalypse they'd have found a reason to not only stay open, but to come in early...

I was very close to going to Alex for the stom. I don't know North Louisiana is so different than South Louisiana. And I grew up in Mamou which is just 40 mins. South. My grandparents always joked (sorta) that the folks North of HWY 10 (which runs from Oakdale to Ville Platte) are Americans: meaning not cajun. Of course I am sure you are cool as they come. I'll drink a beer to all the workers of asshole bosses.

my favorite poem: a pillow for promise (written by me)

it feels like im falling from these clouds
i don't have the words to show you
or you to walk me through this dream
i wish not to awake
let us dream of each other forever
i will wait for you at the bottom
of me as it was then for you
for you as it was then of me
heaven would part way to see your beautiful face
and i can feel our future comming to a close
so close to being cold
i give you this last rose
the one i pricked my finger on
the one covered in thorns
if you look closely though
(you'll see)
a reflection
a snow covered happy home
a smile in the patience of 3 words
a set of eyes iridizing in the mirror
a hope that you will find me here
imprisoned as you pull the petals
i drown to last leaf of sky
if you catch me
i'll grow wings and together
away we will fly

favorite book: the screwtape letters (if you haven't read it i recomend it)

life is decent at the moment, im confused about things but who isn't?

glad to hear you're doing well. smile

tuesdays with morrie good ish. your on a good path. a friend told me she bought a copy of the alchemist for me today, raving about it. myself i've been rereading the power of now perpetually for the last year. as a wise teacher told me: the reading is easy, applying the knowledge is the tricky part.

so...i went camping last night for the first time! it was fun, actually. i figured i'd have only two problems and surely enough, that was it. a) peeing in the woods--being a female, this is rather inconvenient b)spiders! the whole peeing in the woods thing wasn't as bad as i imagined, except for the spiders. i was creeped out! everytime i'd walk away from camp...

Yay for camping! Glad to hear that you had a good time...wasn't entirely sure if you did or didn't. Just watch out for those giant leaf spiders next time, eh? And don't pull a Jon and wander off drunk and fall in the river! wink

hmmm. i can't stop biting my nails. and now they are all bloody and ouchy, darnnit. i went and took some stuff to one of the shelters today, and then headed over to the mall to donate blood. i'm going to start volunteering my time tomorrow after work to help w/ the refugees. i think it's been said that our population in this town has...

I wouldn't bother trying even if my burner -did- work. Nothing to play cd's on worth a flip anyways haha. And those things skip when you walk.

If you really want to volunteer at a place, go out to LSUA. I did about 5 hours there on Saturday. All of the people out there are 'special needs refugees' though. So don't go if you don't think you can handle seeing people at just about their lowest. Sad to see the condition of some of the people who used to have single rooms in a hospital and now they are with 200 other people in a gym. frown

lately i've been trying to burn a cd as a challenge....it shall be what i would consider the 'soundtrack' to my life wink fun, fun, eh? some i'm considering, are louis armstrong's 'what a wonderful world,' mozart's pianio concert in A major, "papercut" by linkin park, "lover i don't have to love" by brighteyes, a few from hum off their greatest/bestest album 'you'd prefer an astronaut'...
