(Richmond, VA) -- Northside residents and Richmond city officials are still trying to figure out what is causing mysterious booming noises in the area. The "booms" that have been happening since election night, have some officials fearing foul play in the neighborhood. At a community meeting Sunday night, city authorities discussed creating a task force to handle the mystery. The city says it has looked into several theories to find the cause of the "booms," including the sewer and gas systems. Officials say they will look into every possible cause. Some Northside residents felt three loud booms yesterday. Councilman Bill Pantele, who lives in the area, said yesterday's "boom" was the biggest to date. Police say residents who hear the "booms" should not call 9-1-1, but call the resident hotline at 646-5100.
