Today is Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK , which not only remembers the victims and survivors of the Holocaust perpetrated by Nazis during WW2, but all genocides since such as those in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur!! It is important to remnot only today but every day that all discrimination, bullying, bigotry is wrong wether it is on a global scale or one person.
It is also important that when remembering the Holocaust that over 1 million non Jews were killed, these included people of colour, homosexuals and disabled people. This always makes me stop and think as I fit into 2 of those categories, being Pansexual and Disabled, and have suffered minor discrimination/name calling for both.
In the late 80's in the UK homophobia was rife and knew several friends who suffered 'gay bashing' physical assaults. When I walked to the local 'gay bar' the gay men and the lesbians had to walk hand in hand to give the impression we were couples so as not the be attacked. It is sad that in the third decade of the 21st Century Homophobia and Transphobia is so rife😭🤬
In closing I pray that no one here in this wonderful community sufferers any form of discrimination or bigotry here or anywhere!!
