Wordsmith

Coffee taints my breath and ink stains my fingers
Smoke curls like a djinns body
As I sit and stare at the passing masses
Truth compels my writing of these words-

Streets teem with life
Saturday night in my city
Girls with perfect hair
Thousand dollar shoes
Theyll be tossed in the backseat later
Boys strutting looking for their mates
You can smell their arrogance
Covering up their homophobia
Punkers squatting smoking cloves
Playing dice in the corner
One with red liberty spikes keeps screaming over and over,
Loaded, Loaded, the dice are loaded!
Rumbling in the distance getting closer fast
Harleys blazing and singing with deep throated
Roars of steel-hearted dragons

Somewhere close by words are being spoken to me,
You gotta light brother?
I look up into eyes of humor
Another wordsmith sitting at the next table
He too records the life passing our shared window
Sure. You got an extra smoke? I just ran out."


Last night I was sitting in my favorite coffee shop when this REALLY happened. God I love the city!!! S~
