Oh my goodness where do I begin!? 2015 was such a rollercoaster for me: I got out of an emotionally (that eventually turned into physically) abusive relationship, I put my heart on my sleeve on multiple occasions only to get it thrown into a blender, and I finally admitted that my General Anxiety Disorder was getting the best of me and I was drowning. But not everything that happened was bad! Yeah I was in a bad relationship, but that taught me how to find my balls again and to stand up for myself. People may have thrown me aside emotionally but it taught me that I need to love myself and I don’t need to seek other people’s approval. I may have become one of those people who is “crazy and needs medication” but doing so allowed me to learn how to gain control of my life again and I am in a much better place because of it!
Not only that, but I got accepted into my dream school in Savannah, I became closer with friends I never imagined I would have, I got my first tattoos, and I became a Hopeful here on Suicide Girls! 2015 may have been rough at first, but it sure as hell went out with a BANG and I would not want it to happen in any other way.
But 2016 is going to be a rough one, I can already tell. I have 4 different shoots planned throughout the year with some amazing photographers, I have 245 days before DragonCon to make 4 outstanding cosplays, and I have 3 crazy quarters waiting for me in Savannah.
So like many others, here are my New Year’s Resolutions in detail to try and keep me on track with everything:
1. Draw a photo from the “Set of the Day” every day! I’m doing this not only because I can see what other girls do for their sets, but it will help me get better at drawing the human body and at drawing in general.
2. I will maintain my new workout/diet plan so I can cosplay as a Spartan for DragonCon! This one is a little crazy because it will add a 5th cosplay to the line up… but I miss going to the gym! Being lazy and laying around the house all day makes me feel fat and depressed. Plus, I wanna be stronger. Being at school for 2 months without going to the gym absolutely murdered my strength and hopefully this new diet will force me to eat better at school. Also, it helps a lot with my anxiety to release pent up stress!
3. Seriously consider starting up an online store. Not only for prints (if you guys are interested?), but I LOVE to sew cute onsies of different characters and I’ve been told that I should sell them for everyone to enjoy. It would take a lot of time and money, but I feel it might be something worth trying!
4. Apply to 5 places for a Summer Internship in the Game Design field, including anywhere from Jacksonville up the East Coast to Pennsylvania. This is a big one for me because it is what will fuel my career and get me the experience I need. It’s not always easy to get an internship at such an apprentice level, but I’m going to hit at least 5 places and then if I can, keep trying after that until I find a place that takes me!
So those are my 4 goals for this year. A couple are time specific while the rest are an ongoing thing but I feel like they are crazy outlandish and are reasonably attainable!
