I did something today that I never ever thought that I would do. I purchased a Johnny Cash cd.
First let me clarify. I have always had a respect for Mr. Cash and the things he accomplished. However, musicaly I thought that it would be boring old people country. I know stupid of me. Stupid and very closed minded of me. I am glad that sometimes reality just knocks you around a little. Realizing our own faults helps to reminds us not to judge others so harshly.
One of the major things I look for in people and often wish upon society is the ability to be more open minded and less judgemental. So I wasn't being that way when it came to the Man in Black. What changed it for me was watching Walk the Line. I was so touched by the story. Learning about Johnny's life, witnessing his talent, seeing the love story, and most importantly actually paying attention to the music for the first time. I couldn't stop tapping my foot. I also realized that I loved Hollywood bio-pics.
There is a lot of great things I would probably have never paid attention to if it wasn't for bio-pics. Most wonderful for me have been the ones about musicians. Which is very sad because music is my therapy. If i't weren't for Lamba I never would have started listening to Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper. Never would have cared about Jerry Lee Lewis without Great Balls of Fire.
So tell me. What is your favorite bio-pic and why?
My new anthem!
