Today I read that the US is provoking Kim Jong Il (what did happen to Hans Blix anyway?) into threatening nuclear attacks by doing "exercises" with the South Korean Navy just outside of North Korean waters.
Why does the US do this? And before I am accused of anti-American sentiments the UK is no better in overall terms, we just follow US troops around nowadays like the school geek who wants to get into the cheerleading squad!
What possible use are these exercises unless they are to rehearse the plan for NK invasion? Is Iraq now too boring? Afghanistan is due to close it's doors to US sharpshooters in 5 years...where's next guys? Iran is looking a cool choice, or North Korea.
If we (and I use the word "we" advisedly) really want to make a difference in this world, lets start by sorting out a conflict that the US and UK et al STARTED over 60 years ago in the Middle East. By giving away someone elses land in 1948 we set in motion a series of events that have killed millions now, by ignoring the acts of 1967 onwards (on both sides) we have perpetuated the problem.
To use recent phrasology "we cannot ignore the blatant disregard for UN resoultions"...how about starting on Res 242? (22nd Nov 1967 for the interested - interestingly but utterly irrelevantly 4 years to the day since JFK was killed)
