So I finally got around to seeing Star Wars: Episode III. It wasn't better than I'd expected, but I still had problems with it. Overall, despite how the following may sound, I really did enjoy it. It was a decent way to tie up loose ends and round out the saga. But it could've been better. I've tried to pick out the good and bad without revealing serious spoilers...

The Good:
- Ewan McGregor. The guy does an amazing Sir Alec Guiness. He truly was the best actor in the film.

- The battles were great.

- The final showdown between Anakin and Obi Wan was fantastic.

- Lightsabers, lightsabers, lightsabers. I must own a functional one someday. That would kickass.

- Speaking of lightsabers, Mace Windu's lightsaber should have "Bad Motherfucker" embossed on it somewhere.

- Hayden Christiansen is actually quite good in the role this time around. At least when he's not interacting with Natalie Portman.

- The ungodly amounts of CGI were slightly less noticable this time around. It wasn't as "clean" and "pretty." Which is actually a good thing.

- Anakin's abs. Dayum!! eeek

- Jar Jar finally shut his fucking pie hole.

The Bad:
- The interaction between Anakin and Amadila was groan-worthy. Literally.

- Anakin's turn to the Dark Side felt very forced.

- Didn't Natalie Portman used to be a good actress? What the hell happened?

- While I love Wookies, they story didn't need them at all. The battle on Kysshak felt very much like an afterthought.

- General Grievous was yet another in a long line of wasted villans. Over-hyped and underused and about as intimidating as a Pez dispensor. Darth Maul was scarier than this mechanical monstrosity, and at least he took a Jedi out. Grevious couldn't do much more than swing a lot of 'sabers and cough wetly every so often. Color me underwhelmed.

- Jar Jar didn't die.

The Ugly:
- Piss poor timeline. Now think about this a minute - Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru are old as dirt in Episode IV, right? And Luke's supposed to be, what, 17? 19, tops? Yet when Obi Wan drops little Luke off with Owen and Beru, they're barely out of their teenage years themselves. Does Luke sleep in a cyrogenic chamber or sometheing between III and IV?

- I understand why C-3PO doesn't recognize Vader in IV - VI... but why doesn't Vader recognize and/or acknowledge C-3PO in them? He did create 3PO, afterall. What, he just forgot?

- Vader coming off the operating slab was so incredibly hokey looking, I almost giggled. Which is sad when you condsider that that moment was really what the first 3 Episodes were all about.

- The Force must really be weak with Obi Wan, Yoda and Mace. None of them had the (obvious) insight to see Anakin and Amadila were married. Or that he was the father of the buns in her oven. WTF?

- Speaking of which, she was pregnant for all of, what, 15 minutes? And she was running while pregnant? The Force must be strong with her uterus.

I was wondering.. Does Vader and Threepio ever get a lot of face time in the Originals? 3PO was blasted apart in Cloud City before the showdown in the dinning hall, and that was really the closest that I can think of. Plus... protocol droids of that syle are comon place in the galaxy (i assume) and besides, in 20 years will you remember your microwave, even if you built it?

Edit:
PS, so this comment fits in with the rest of them.... You are amazingly beautiful. The kind of beauty that a guy would sell all of his possessions just for the chance to see you walk by. And for the rest of his day.. "I saw Deux once... oh my" smile
