Hello my prettiesand a happy Halloween to you all. Or, as I like to think of it, happy Samhainthats pronounced, ah fuck it, I wont bore you with my academic snobbery, if you care for the proper pronunciation just drop me a line, otherwise its essentially another fucking word for Halloween. So I say it again, HAPPY FUCKING HALLOWEEN!!!!
I was under the distinct impression yesterday, that in the morning I posted a long and rambling journal entry, but apparently I was still in a bit of an early morning (in this case, like many I use the terms early and morning rather freely) daze, blame it on the rather excessive amounts of whisky which I drank Friday night to combat the depression of having friends bail on me last minute for a concert outingoh yeah, they were also essentially my ride to said concert (turns out I wasnt depressed, just slightly drunkvicious cycle that). Anyway, the point being, I looked on SG again last night only to realize that I, in fact did not post said journal entry at all yesterday morning. So, to briefly sum up, it consisted of a variety of excuses for not updating my journal entry lately, and not being a good participant and posting to other peoples journalsin brief succession, the excuses were as follows: sisters visit, 10 days sick in bed immediately followed by an intense on the road D&D weekend, and then returning home to attempt to make up about 3 missed weeks of office work for my momughh. In the meantime, we have pretty much completely emptied out the main floor of my house because we are having the floors redone in wood beginning tomorrow at 9am. So I am living in a big shell right now, all that is left in my room for example is my computer, and a mattress, upon which I have thrown my sleeping bag because I cant seem to find any clean linens. Also is my small wall mounted bookshelf, which now contains only those volumes which I have not yet read (but have been meaning to forever)..so I plan on just going down the line over the next couple of months and catch up on some long overdue pleasure reading. The first handful on the list are:
1. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Cabon
2. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
3. The Manuscript Found in Saragosa by Potocki (for 2nd time)
4. Naked Lunch by Burroughs (for 2nd time)
5. Labyrinths by Borges (again)
6. The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King
7. Cat and Mouse by Gunter Grass
8. The Half Brother by Lars Christensen
9. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde
10. Imperial San Francisco by Gray Brechin
11. Prayers and Meditations of St. Anselm
12. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
13. The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed by John McPhee
14. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy
15. Paradise Lost by Milton
And that is roughly italthough, there are probably some that I have forgotten to list. It may seem a bit excessive to plan this far in advance, but I hope to get through this list by X-mas, and given the fact that my friends all work full time, and my mother has just taken a new lover (nice guy actually), I think that I will have plenty of time to myselfand what better way to spend it than reading?
As for the more important and immediate events at hand, I am happy to announce that I am now the proud owner of a hotcurry original piece of artwork. She is having a sort of fire sale, and as such I encourage any and all of you to check out her journal and buy up what little of her portfolio still remains. I realize that this might seem like a shameless plug, but I figure it cant hurt to try to share the joy of supporting a struggling artist with others. PISS OF A FASCIST; SPEND YOUR MONEY ON ART.
Also I am eager to join in tonights Halloween festivities it will be the first time since grammar school that I can really remember doing something. I somehow managed to avoid every Halloween party throughout high school and college, in spite of some rather appealing invitations. I have a homemade costume and everything this year, although it is rather minimalist. It is pretty much going to consist of me in all black with (If I do say so myself) a pretty badass mask that I spent 4 hrs making last night, and still have another hour still to do on it today. But it will be a sort of modernist approach to Poes Masque of the Red Death . If I can find my camera in all this mess, there will be pictures to follow.

And you should get on reading any works by Wilde that you have not yet read. I adore his writing. Quite possibly my favorite quote ever... "the only thing I cannot resist is temptation." Ah, so very true.
