I was just about to start writing this journal entry when my stepdad called me...he is the coolest guy ever. I mean last friday night he and I were at a dinner with some friends of his, one of which was a lawyer who had worked in the Humboldt County DA's office for 18yrs. and my (Ex) stepdad got this guy and another lawyer to pay him a dollar...it is a long story, but imagine two lawyers nearly breaking their wrists trying to get to their wallets they were that eager to pay him...to vote. yeah, he kicks ass...the last of his kind really.
anyway, he is heading off to Baja for the winter in about 6 weeks, so I am trying to spend as much time with him before then as possible. I think Wednesday we will hang out at the Brewery and go see a flick, maybe "Garden State".
anyway, dialup be damned I am trying to get back into the swing of things here on SG, I realized that my last entry was about 3 weeks ago, and for someone who formerly thought blogging was for losers, I have felt a huge emptiness without doing my updates....well, I guess it's true that I never claimed to be anything but a loser. I got back from Scotland about 3 weeks ago, and have spent my time back in Humboldt catching up with friends and local gossip, and trying to organize my life. This weekend was very nerdy, spent most of Sat and Sun organizing my comics and I have come to the conclusion that I am missing some. I mean where the fuck did my copies of Rifle Brigade go? Not to mention my 1st issue of Wolverine, and a healthy handful of Gen 13's...this is totally wierd. I have finished bagging and boarding them, now I just have to alphabetize by title...in all this immersion in my comics I decided one thing...I want a girlfriend who I can cuddle up with on the couch in the evening while DK is playing on the stereo in the background, and we can discuss the beauty of "V for Vendetta"...preferably this discussion will occur in German, or perhaps French. After that we will get dressed up to go out to an art opening (we'll both be wearing ties that she tied) where we will talk politics with the gallery director, and make snide comments about the artist's use of negative space...these comments will be politely made in Latin so as to not offend anyone.
In the meantime however, until this special someone comes along, I will just have to marry Keira Knightly, or perhaps after wednesday's movie outing it will switch to Natalie Portman, but right now my money is on Keira.
I had a spiffy quote from Stephen King's "The Gunslinger" for you all, but I can't reach my copy right now, so it will have to wait. I have tons to talk about, but none of it is very interesting, so I will eke it out as time goes by. One last thing though: does anybody know of any good German grammar books that I should get for teaching myself German? I prefer grammar books to the silly conversational ones...so let me know...also, the same thing for Spanish would be helpful.
That's all for now.
