Hey SG land!
I'm happy to say I've become a bit more active on this site: I've got some friends requests out there (I hope they say yes, they same like such cool people, I'd love to get to know them!), I've joined the Itty Bitty Titty Committee group (thank you Lord, I've finally found a home!), and I've put out a few applications for some of the other groups. Hurray!
Nothing much new to report: the gig copywriting fell through (just as I expected it to): the client cancelled the meeting at the last minute. So we'll see what happens there. I am applying for the bus driving job this weekend, and I have a good feeling about it. I really want that job: good money, flexible hours, and lots of interesting experience.
My side business selling games (HeroClix, Pirates, MTG, etc.) at the comic shop I work at is going pretty well. Me and the guy I started up this little enterprise with are thinking about opening up an electronic store front soon, which could be cool. I'll be sure to post it here when/if that happens. I love games: I've just recently got back into MTG, playing at the local game store, and I can't wait for the Magic 2010 prerelease in just a few weeks. On a slightly sad note, however, it's been almost a year since my last Warhammer or 40K game, and so I'm thinking of letting a few of my armies go.
I think with this new-found enthusiasm for human interaction, I might finally start making an effort to meet some women. I've always tried to play it cool and submissive, let the girls break the ice, do the pursuing, try to get them to fall for me before I fall for them because when I fall for a girl, I usually fall pretty hard. But I'm discovering that's a younger man's game (or maybe an older man's too, if he's attractive). Back in the day, I was always meeting women. I've always tried to refrain from having sex with anybody that I didn't see having a future with, but a mixture of hopeless romanticism and poor judgement let to some double-digit exes. Still, I'd at least have a date every couple months or so. As it stands now, I haven't gotten any action, carnal or casual, in almost three years.
Let me tell you why: almost three years ago I had a major accident falling through a glass door, almost lost the use of my right leg. Since then, I've rehabbed to the point of walking without a llimp (except when it's cold, or when the weather shifts suddenly), but working out is still difficult for me. It years before I could ride a bike or swim again. So I've lost a lot of self-confidence, which I'm only just getting back. But I've also gained a bit of weight- I've lost a lot of it since then, but I'm still a bit overweight (about 20 pounds, down from almost 60). Makes it hard for me to approach women, 'cause even at my ideal weight, I was rarely the best looking guy in the room. But hey: I've graduated, I've got a few irons in the fire, I've been incredibly productive writing lately, maybe it's time to meet some new people.
I'll let you know how that goes. Here's a spoiler: it's gonna go slow....
