something on the boards sparked my brain to working....
we need to quit fucking with mother nature.
they say we're going to run out of our resources in the next hundred years or so. why you ask? theres more people these days, more people living longer. more people, living longer use up more shit. it's quite simple if you think about it.
say a hundered years ago. dawn of a new century. there was a good population of people in this country, with more still coming. we had lots of coal, lots of steel making materials, lots of oil, enough to sustain that population for a long time. but, back then, if you made it to 60 years old, you were lucky. now people live to be 80-85, using up an adittional 20 years worth of resources. add on top of that, the wonders of medical science has given us vaccines and cures for most of your generational killers like polio, small pox, scarlette fever and the like. there is nothing left to keep our growth in check. any natural predator, higher on the food chain has been dominated for the most part. any biological standfast is attacked as best we can. but, nature strikes back, ever evolving to fight us. we kill smallpox and polio, she gives us HIV and AIDS. we come up with chemo and radiation therapy, she evolves resistant strains of cancer. we come up with a flu shot, she gives us SARS.
there has been no great epidemic of mass proportion in the recent years. how long do you really think this is going to last before some other great plauge rears it's ugly head . or a huge natural disaster erupts and puts us back in our place and numbers where we belong?
all this was brought about by a discussion of an asteroit that is supposed to hit or near miss our planet in 2029-2035. people say we should do something about it, "Armeggeddon" style. i say it's natural selection, just deal with it.
the Dinosaurs had there time, an asteroid wiped the slate clean. we have our time, something else will end us just the same so something else, more evolved than us can flourish on the new land scape. it's happened before, it'll happen again. it's the way nature runs it's course.

Nature will eventually kill us off. I think that's what happens with the dominate species. We have no natural predaters left but disease. I think that will our great exit. Just my opinion.
