Today in ancient philosophy we read the creation myths of Babylon. Naturally I ended up sketching down designs for Tiamat the All-Mother. At least then I don't feel so guilty about drawing in class. There were no descriptions of her, but I've been made fairly aware that she's either a dragon or some kind of beast.

Mine ended up a ceremonial dragon of sorts with decorative horns. She had fertility goddess features like female breasts and a pregnant belly lying on her back. then I threw in some aztec serpent imagery to finish it off.

When I got home I looked for images of her on the internet for more inspiration. 26 pages of images and she was either a completely boring fertility goddess with dolphins, orcas and rainbows or she was a run-of-the-mill fire breathing, three headed dragon puke

I should publish a giant mythology book with more pictures than words. I made one on mythological plants a year ago, made it from scratch and bound it in leather myself. Its kinda depressing really, but at least it boosts my self-esteem.

I need a scanner, an image-server and the determination to master photoshop.

Tiamat when finished is going up on the wall with Leviathan, Odin, AL, and Rose

While you make pretty speeches
I'm being cut to shreds
You feed me to the lions

That sketch sounds awesome.

I am totally obsessed with mythology.

I think we are living in a scientific post age of reason world that needs to believe in fairy tales again.
