So, we watched 'A History of Violence' for the 1st time last night. I had a mixed reaction. I thought the film was quite good, but the storyline was simplistic. Am a fan of Viggo (pre and post 'Rings') (He was the best parts of '28 Days' and 'A Perfect Murder') and especially his photography and publishing efforts, and he continue to distinguish himself in this film. Saw glimpses of early Cronenberg throughout, though this was by far his most commercial effort (see 'Dead Ringers' for a REAL mind-job of a film). The cinematography was great, and Howard Shore's music was excellent. In other words, had the storyline been a bit more involved, I would have really loved this film. As it is, it's worth watching.
