A friend mailed me a little packet with selfmade christmas cookies and I'm so delighted. No because they were the best I've ever eaten, but because of the statement it brings with it.
Unselfishly thinking of others is so precious and for me it's a qualification to call someone a friend. (friend in the meaningful german sense) Sometimes people get frightened when I try just to be kind without expecting to get something in return, because they can't imagine that I don't want to archieve something. They are so stuck in their egocentric world where people only get together when their gets and gives fit to each other. Often they are imprisioned in their own emotions and even when they care about you it's just because you are currently an influencing part of them. My private hypothesis is that those people are very unhappy deep inside; they're chasing fun and also reaching it, but fun is very transistent and after it's gone you feel sadder than before, so it has to be renewed again and again and has to be more and more.
So, all I want to do is to show people the other way of which I think it is the better way. And if they get frightened and look upon me to be a stalker because it's beyound their imagination that I want nothing in return, then I just go on despite and BECAUSE I can not expect anything in return. Do you know that quote by Martin Luther (I mean the German one, of course):
"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."
That is the point exactly: Even if something would be useless it is not senseless. Additionaly (and you can call me old fashioned) every good thing you do makes the whole world a tiny bit better, and I do want to live in a better world.
--------------
Right now I'm listening to some old recordings by The Spencer Davis Group. No, I'm not living in the musical past, but I must say that the British people always make the best pop/rock music in the world. In the cold, rainy England music is so hot. Listen to the Stones Album 'Emotional Rescue', great, great. Sir Mic Jagger is a God. (Ok, ok, Brian Wilson is one too, but you don't want to make hot, unrestrained love with him, when you hear him singing...)
----------
SNOW!! It's snowing! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Now winter got it's legitimacy. What can be more wonderful than walking through cold and abandoned streets in the night and all the white snow covering everything makes the night so bright; it seems like there is a dawn going on forever and you feel like the time has stopped and the world just stopped breathing and takes a break. All of you living in the very south, let me tell you that you do miss a wonderful experience of peacefullness.
