Wow... I'm the mom of a High School graduate. What a rush that is! Damn, that makes me old! It's one thing to have a kid in school, quite another to have a graduated one. Heh. It feels damn good though! More of a weight off my shoulders than I had imagined it would. So much is gonna change now... the whole atomsphere around here. No more bitching about homeworks, by either one of us! No more strange schedules and band concerts (*sniff*) and freaking 'I have to bring food this week' at the last minute! *laughs* Man! Prom pic is in my pix, she's the one on the left, and she rocks!
And in the fall, she goes 3000 miles away to college. Now, that's gonna be a rude awakening.
But overall, a really nice weekend. Graduation was on Friday, and all the right people showed up in all the right places. A lovely dinner was had after the event, and the rest of the weekend has been a series of parties, of both the family and the kid variety. So now, it's Sunday evening. She's napping, I've been working on rebuilding a great BBQ... the best BBQ, in fact. The CharBroil 940! woop! Next weekend is the solstice party, so I'm hoping to have it ready to go by then. But for tonight, there's a flank steak marinating and soy and sake and garlic and ginger. I have fresh wax beans from the farmer's market, and green beans from my own garden to go with, and I'll stir fry some noodles to go with the meat. Yum.
