rain rain and more MFing rain. One clear day in the past three weeks, ten more days of rain coming, they say. Now I know why my mom is going nuts in Portland. At least I can tell her that back home it's no better on the rain front.
So...news... hmmm.
Got some more space for CD storage, this is a good thing, they were stacking up bad. It always amazes me when I find I have music I didn't know I had. Yesterday it was a Jah Wobble CD, fit the grey atmosphere nicely.
Went out with some friends last week to see an old pal's new band. It was far more bizarre than I bargained for, though not *bad* per se. Charlie has always been kind of an electronic guy, so I expected something electronoizy, with a pop edge. Well, he was indeed doing the electronics, beats for a band which included a hammered dulcimer and jazz guitar. The drummer was a standin from another band, and he was hot stuff. The dulcimer was huge, on a stand, and the fellow playing it was also the singer. Charlie hauled a huge monitor up on stage... no laptop yet, apparantly, and basked in its glow as he loaded the beats. Odd, but not odd enough wink It was fun seeing him again, hopefully he'll get some work done with the bf again. They used to play together as Exterminating Angel, oh so many years ago.
But the real oddity of the night was after their set when the sound guy started the music for between sets. The second piece he played was an mp3 downloaded from Robo's myspace *shudder* UNAUTHORIZED ,
Big City Orchestra site, a version of Karawane, everyone's favorite tone poem. How tweaky, hearing your own voice along with numerous friends' over the speakers in the club. Looking around the room, there were several people there whose voices were in the piece. It seems the noizy world is seeping into the clubs and bars, watch out!
So today is another one of those "pick up all the pieces and haul them to the trash and start over" days. Too much going on, not enough going forward. I've put nearly all the records away now, in the correct places. Books are on shelves, more in bags by the front door. I've vacuumed, there are almost no dishes in the sink, cats are fed and sleeping. Guess it's time to go the the sex toy store, and the pharmacy. I need ladybugs for the garden too. I hope they don't drown in all this rain! I have a feeling though, that it'll keep them from flying away, I need em to stay and eat the aphids.

ARRR!!!

Hey new friend,
Glad you added me to yer list. I love finding music I forgot (or never knew) I had. I'm the worst at organizing that stuff...I don't even try. For me its usually on my puter or ipod nowadays. I used to play drums in some bands that did a lot of electronic pre programmed kinda high techy stuff. ah the good old days. whatever Are you really into gardening?

Thanks for your comment! I collected some postcards for a while too, of 19th century insane asylums. Strange, I know, but at the time I was interested in mental illness and its treatment in the 19th century. Each of the many institutions run by each of the states put out their own postcard with a view of the institution and its grounds. I have about 15 or so.

As far as "not everyone on my walls is a family member" goes, I'm afraid I'm guilty of showing old photos to friends sometimes and making up wild stories to go with them. "Oh, that was my great-uncle Frank, he embezzled money from the bank he worked at and ran off to Peru with a stripper named Dottie." (I'm cursed with an overactive imagination.)
