So, had the first dress rehersal for the Opera Turandot. I don't evny my co-worker Sara. She works on the principals, i.e, the lead singers, and the female lead is a complete prima donna cunt rag wench. She hated the makeup, as was handed down from the director to the makeup artistry director, my boss, and refused, REFUSED to go on stage with that makeup. She called her agent after locking herself in her dressing room. Her agent then called the director AND the conductor and pitched a fit to the point where she convinced them to wash her makeup off and start over. She complained that the base wasn't the right color either. She's african american, so it's pretty hard to keep to her skin color and still make her look Chinese. Filipino maybe, but Chinese? No. GAH!!! I got frustrated just listening to it.
My work on the chorus wasn't so much of a problem. Turandot takes place in ancient China, so we needed to make them all look asian, specificall like chinese peasants. This didn't go over very well because being a peasant doesn't allow for you to look very nice. Granted, the base is definately too light and everyone looked really washed out on stage, but there's nothing to be done for that at this point because the makeup budget is already spent and we're not gonna run out and buy new base. We'll just dust them with darker powder and hope for the best.
On to more pleasant things.
Prom's coming up in may! W00t! I'm excited, and I'm putting in for the time off tomorrow. I need to get a dress and nifty ear jewelry too, and figure out what to do with my hair. Should be great fun. I'm sure it was last year, but I got too drunk to really remember it much. I look forward to not drinking as much and remembering more this time.
I had a wonderful fragrance training at work today and I got a whole bottle of Emmanuell Ungaro Apparition for men. I'm gonna wear it myself because Aegies doesn't wear fragrance and it smells amazing.
Speaking of work, a couple of days ago my co-worker told me that she's up and moving to NYC to live this guy she met on the net, and has never met in person. She quit Sephora yesterday. I'm worried about her, because she's never met this guy, she's never been to the city and has no idea what parts to stay out of and doesn't know anyone else there and doesn't have a job lined up or anything. I'm going to put her in touch with a couple of my friends who live there so she's got someone to go to if things go sour. I hope for her sake that they don't but... I can't help but feel uneasy about the whole thing.
As for me, I'll just be happy to move into Downtown Sac. Moirae and I just turned in another application and hopefully this one won't be given away to someone else. It's huge and gorgeous, and a block away from the apartment of one of my best friends. Here's to hoping things work out. It would be nice if they did every once in a while. One that note, I have a super long day tomorrow, and I'm gonna be uber busy for the next seven days, if ya don't hear form me it's because I'm working my ass off, but I promise I'm still alive.
