Four days ago, one of the baby rats--going on four weeks old--got out of the cage while Mara was cleaning it. This happened to be outside, and the baby disappeared into the undergrowth. frown Then on Tuesday I caught a glimpse of him just outside our front door, but he ran when I tried to catch him. Then, somehow, he got back into the house and...

The Mystery of Earth

Earth is thick, broad, boundless. Insofar as it is empty above and substantial below, myriad beings are born from it; insofar as it is substantial above and empty below, myriad beings return to the root. Now empty, now substantial, it lasts forever with heaven. Its body is still, its function flows; mountains manifest its wonderful substance, rivers reveal its spirit.

I agree. When Im grown up enough (that wont happen, but lets pretend), Ill be rich enough (that wont be likely to happen either, but lets still pretend some more) to buy that big old mansion in the countryside, or better still, somewhere next to the waterfront, on the seaside. Hey, Ill have an island of my own. Yes, thats it. biggrin

hey there - some sad and serious stuff going on - check out my previous journal post to see what's going on - kinda hard to talk about....

I'm breathing but need to step back from things for awhile, just what I do when life goes completely to shit. Just wanted to let you and Mara know you are great people and I really enjoyed meeting you (online and in person). Good luck with things and perhaps I'll run into you guys sometime on State st. (I 'm up that way once a month or so).

Thanks for helping to demystify Physics for me!

Had an interesting time at my place last night. Got to hang out with old friends and new--thanks Thorn! Watched a couple of Cowboy Beebop episodes and then the Ring, which kicked ass. Sadly, however, most of the night was spent trying to get my computer to play DVD's through the TV, which is a much harder and more complex task than one would normally...

Here i bitch about not meeting more cool people in SB and i don't even follow up on the chance to meet people. I'm my own biggest hurdle. I mean damn I missed Cowboy Bebop. Anyway, let me know if you all get together again. I'd be down to meet some of the other SB kids.

sorry I missed it - I wound up staying in and making dinner for my friend and I, and then we both passed out by 11...loooonnnnngggg day

Okay, another random factoid about me:

In my living room is a shrine. On that shrine are four statues. The center-most is the Buddha, to the left is Kuan Yin, to the right are General Kuan Yu and Hachiman, Taoist and Shintoist lords of chivalry, justice, and honor, respectively. They are also the respective Proctectors of Buddhism in China and Japan.

Isn't this fun?

You know, I think South Park just offended me.

I'm not sure yet, 'cause I haven't finished laughing.

In other news--a random, pointless factoid about moi:

I once practiced a nasty war magick ritual using a Cradle Of Filth album to help raise energy.

Yeah. Yeah, I am a freak. An occult-loving freak, but a freak nonetheless. surreal

biggrin biggrin confused bok biggrin

PS--I told you it was pointless and random. wink

War magick? Be careful what you send out, make sure you can handle it on the flipside. Oops, sorry, I'm not your mom!

Hand raised birds are fun. They're very cuddly and grabbable, and they've got loads of personality.
thorn2:
You mean an actual war ritual - not something from Exalted? Now that's cool...eh, aren't you concerned about any backlash from the negative energy?

right on - from one occult loving freak to another wink

Spent the weekend playing Exalted with Mara and Astrokreep23. Awesome! I love dungeon crawls! tongue

My character, a Night Caste ghost hunter and perveyor of Grimcleaving goodness to rogue spirits and Ayssals alike, now has more Soulsteal weapons and armor than most Abyssals ever see. Know thy enemy, I guess. The problem is that now, whenever he encounters other Exalted--Solars, Lunars--they feel the need to challenge...

Nah I suppose you dont really need to be good if you dont want to.

Interesting that you play Exalted. Almost tried it before. Im not that big on roleplaying though, even though I work in a game store whatever Did always kinda like the way that game looked though.
eponine:
no, that made total sense...people are fucking assholes.

On top of my training for the Red Sash (see last journal) I'm also set to begin a new weapon form, the willow-leaf broad sword, in July. As it turns out, one of my existing weapon forms, the double butterfly shortsword, has been radically modified by Sikung--the grand master of our style--and I have to relearn it as well. Don't get me wrong--I'm excited. But...

Right-on. I had to catch up on your past journals to keep me up to speed. Hoe long have you been training? And you know how to fight with a double butterfly shortsword? That makes my training with a foil seem like child's play!

By the way, You can count me in for the random get together Saturday (no drink preference - should we bring something?)

Awesome, I study shaolin kempo, based on northern shaolin as well. I really love the system. incorporates a lot of different aspects, tai chi, to chin na, and the 5 animal as well. I havnt got much into weapons, started using nunchucks as a fun weapon, but looking to use that as a foundation to work up to the 3 section staff and eventually the 9 section. Would really love to learn atleast one of the swords eventually. we'll see biggrin

So my Sifu has decided that I should start training for the Red Sash test, to be held in October. The Red Sash in our system is the rough equivalent to somewhere between a 1st degree and 2nd degree black belt. I'm really excited, however this means the summer will be spent gettin' into serious shape, and practice, practice, practice. If you need me, I'll...
