Had an interesting time at my place last night. Got to hang out with old friends and new--thanks Thorn! Watched a couple of Cowboy Beebop episodes and then the Ring, which kicked ass. Sadly, however, most of the night was spent trying to get my computer to play DVD's through the TV, which is a much harder and more complex task than one would normally think. I'm not a computer guy. I'm a physics major, yes, but I'm into computers only about as far as I can log on here. I can't necessarily tell you how they work, but I can tell you WHY. Sadly, theoretical understanding of the computing process from the AC Theory and Electron Tunnelling aspects are fun--in my book--but they don't help actually get your computer to talk to your TV. That apparently takes four other actual computer guys--and I mean working in the field computer guys--to figure out the problem. In truth, it takes one, Astrokreep23, to do the real work and the other three to shout out suggestions and ridicule him for bieng too slow and me for being the aforementioned physics major who knows nothing about computers. He, he. Between you and me, dear reader, I realize that my techie friends are good with, well...tech, but they'll never win the Nobel Prize for gravitational lensing or, for that matter, take over the world using black holes, so I like to give them a boost by letting them think the computer guys know more than the physics guy. Shhh, don't tell anyone!
